Whew! Finally home after the most wild, wonderful whirlwind of a week in Hollywood😅

My first year nominated for not one, but *two* very special projects in categories incredibly dear to my heart— Young Adult & Middle Grade— alongside a jaw dropping list of fellow nominees— somehow we won both #AudieAwards 🤯😱 I still don’t know that it’s all sunk in and settled but I want to say thank you before too much time passes. @audiobooks @mleecobb the organizing committees for hosting this incredible celebration of our craft & for recognizing/honoring This Terrible True Thing (@jennyladenart ‘s heart wrenching autobiographical debut about a young artist struggling to make sense of adulthood in the face of losing loved ones to the AIDS epidemic and finding strength in activism) and What Happened To Rachel Riley? (@claireswinarski ‘s acclaimed brilliant anti-bullying novel for middle-grade readers performed by an incredible full cast). Both of these stories so deserve a spotlight.

Hi Actors! Happy Leo Season!! Despite these unknown and “unprecedented times” in our industry, we deserve to celebrate ourselves and keep doin’ the hustle in honor of the resilience artists must always have in their arsenal to make a life in the arts.
Today I want to lift up an incredibly gifted artist I feel so lucky to have met on my journey here in New York (of course, our meeting felt like one of those magical flash-in-the-pan coincidences that only and always happen in this city). @howdyanthony is not only a brilliant actor, creator, writer, director, producer, photographer, and cos-player extraordinaire.... but he also produces the most bang-on magical actors’ reels out of thin air! Seriously, I had such a wonderful, gratifying experience making this with him earlier this year. His process is attentive, efficient, and professional. His product... well, I think it speaks for itself.
If you are wondering how to keep moving through this strange shift in time, why not consider treating yourself to a new reel, or a touch up to what you’ve already got, with some magic from Mr. Misiano?

Nichols & May were one of the greatest comedy duos of all time— they performed together for only four years (and were lovers for only three days, or so the legend goes), but their comedy shaped a generation. After disbanding their act, the talented and charming Mike Nichols goes on to be an incredibly successful director of stage and screen, while the brilliant but “difficult” Elaine May has more of a roller coaster career, struggling as a screenwriter and director, ultimately making a living as a ghostwriter and go-to script doctor. When her old partner approaches her to write the screenplay for a comedy he’s set to direct— an English adaptation of the French film La Cage Aux Folles — Elaine must wrestle with what matters more: succeeding on her own or reuniting with the partner who has always known her true worth. A comedy with plenty of belly laughs and a couple of solid gut punches.

Over two days, a breathtaking herd of life-size buffalo puppets will gather in New York City. Part spectacle, part ritual, Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi invites us to join the herd as they roam, graze, and run wild through downtown Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan, encountering live music, poetry, ceremonies, and performances along the way. Inspired by the buffalo’s extraordinary return—from near extinction to repopulation—Return of the Buffalo ushers in a new period of healing.

Return of the Buffalo is one of the largest and most unique public art spectacles taking place in the U.S. this year, created by Amir Nizar Zuabi in partnership with Elders from Lenape and Lakota Tribes.

As the buffalo herd moves along the routes, stopping at locations of historic significance, dozens of acclaimed actors, civic leaders, gospel choirs, dance troupes, marching bands, prominent musicians, and tribal ceremonies will animate parks, plazas, and squares, with live performances and inspiring public events.

Gail Shalan voices Nabiha “Bea” Nohra, a Lebanese immigrant who is traveling to America to find work when she saves Marguerite Ashby, an American heiress, and the two are entrusted with an unclaimed infant survivor. This book opens with Bea reflecting on the rumors—as you’ll hear in this clip—regarding the Titanic shipwreck, and it ends with her sharing the truth of her experience: her survival, what it means, and her efforts to move her family to America. Sometimes we get super lucky and the words feel right from the moment they hit the page, and this was true of both those sections for me, so to hear them captured so eloquently is extra special.

Thank you @grshalan for such a breathtaking, moving portrayal of Bea’s perspective! Your passion shines through every word, and I’m so fortunate to have you be a part of this journey 🥰

I loved watching Marguerite come into her own, and the strength Bea had to keep going—especially in a society that worked hard to prevent both women from using their voices.✨
