🌟 Celebrating the scholars shaping the future of computing
What becomes possible when we broaden who gets to shape the future of technology and the questions computing can help answer?
At Georgia Tech, scholars like Sherilyn Francis and Rachel Baker-Ramos are doing just that.
Through the Charles Isbell Jr. Graduate Fellowship and the Stamps Fellowship, their research is exploring how computing and AI can address critical challenges while centering the communities they serve.
From Black women’s maternal health to Indigenous communities and data sovereignty, their work reflects the power of computing to create meaningful impact far beyond the technology itself.

🍷💻 From coding to Cabernet.
What happens when a Georgia Tech computing education meets a passion for entrepreneurship? For alumnus Christian Doetsch (CS ’13), it led from the corporate tech world to a startup helping hospitality businesses build stronger connections through wine.
Today, Christian serves as Vice President of Technology at VinoBarrel, a startup founded by fellow Georgia Tech alumnus Seth Lytle (IE ’03) that combines software, hardware, and data to help hospitality businesses build stronger customer relationships through wine.
His story is a great reminder that a degree in computing can take you places you never expected, and that the skills you build at Georgia Tech can open doors across industries.
We caught up with Christian to learn more about his journey, his advice for today’s students, and what comes next. 🐝

We love seeing our alumni turn their Georgia Tech Computing experience into opportunities for the next generation.

Thank you to Christian Battaglia for paying it forward through a new need-based scholarship in the College of Computing. His generosity will help ensure that financial circumstances do not stand in the way of talented students pursuing their goals in computing.

And this scholarship is just one of the many ways Christian continues to show up for the College. From mentoring students and volunteering to connect alumni with one another to joining us at events, he continues to find meaningful ways to give back and strengthen the Computing community.

Austin Huguenard won $100,000 on @foxtv’s The 1% Club — a game show that tests logic and reasoning rather than knowledge of trivia. Austin became the first contestant to take home the full jackpot on the American version of the show.

The final question? Without using a zero, what is the lowest possible four-digit number you can make in which the digits add up to 18?

Austin earned an @gtcomputing degree last May and will be moving to New York City to start a career as a software engineering analyst for Deloitte. #WeCanDoThat 🐝💰
