A GUFRAM STORY: CACTUS®

Here is a confession: at Gufram, we rarely get tired of talking about CACTUS® by Drocco and Mello. Our "plant with plenty of personality", this iconic coat hanger stands as tall as a human and has an unmistakable silhouette. Today under the name of ANOTHER GREEN CACTUS® and ANOTHER WHITE CACTUS®, it is made of soft polyurethane and finished by hand with special Guflac®.

Back to work! Do not stress: PUFFO has got your back – literally. This surprisingly soft seat was designed by Ceretti, Derossi and Rosso in 1968. Its mission: to be a lightweight, brilliantly colored everyday life companion.

PUFFO is available in red, yellow, grey and blue, all hand painted with small dots in pastel colors. Why not collect them all?

FLOWIE by @supertoyssupertoys is a real ode to daydreaming: versatile and fresh, this seat takes part in Gufram's project called Domestic treat, which shows the comfort and coziness of even the most radical and original domestic sculptures.

FLOWIE goes beyond the simple concept of artistic furniture; it was also conceived to enter homes and become a companion for the beauty of everyday life.

PRATONE® by Ceretti, Derossi and Rosso is so emblematic that we could picture it everywhere, even in a traditional oil painting by Paul Neberra. The mountains and the hills are the perfect frame and white rabbits the perfect companions for this visual poetry.

This piece was made in 1971 to break all the rules of design and still lives in the "philological" shape of PRATONE® Infinito. by @gufram

Meet Fiore di Cactus®️, a special-edition of Gufram’s iconic 1972 CACTUS®️ coat rack, reimagined by Francesco Vezzoli in honor of Ray Phoenix.

At RAY, our mission is to bring art and design into the daily experience. That spirit led us to Italian design house Gufram, who shares our belief in making great design a part of the every day, and your favorite artist’s favorite artist, Francesco Vezzoli, who has built a practice out of reimagining pop-culture icons across film, embroidery, performance, and sculpture. With Fiore di Cactus®️, Vezzoli adorns the iconic CACTUS®️ with a single bloom, adding a note of playfulness to a design classic. His philosophy of challenging the status quo aligns with Gufram’s Radical Design ethos and RAY’s approach to creating spaces, making him the perfect collaborator.

Produced in a limited run of 30, each piece is cast from the original 1972 mold and hand-painted with Guflac®️, a patented coating that looks like leather yet feels soft to the touch. Fiore di Cactus®️ is pictured here in the 5th floor living room at Ray Phoenix, where one piece will live in the shared amenity space. A select few others will be lent to residents for their own apartments, furthering RAY’s mission to bring art and design into the everyday experience.

This is not a drill! Gufram is honored to be part of the exhibition “Designing Childhood” at @designmuseumbrussels, on show until 20th September. One of the main pieces is our beloved BABY-LONIA by Studio 65.

BABY-LONIA is an oversized, playful sculpture that can be transformed into many forms, encapsulating the essence of fun and innovative design. Made from soft polyurethane and coated in Gufram’s patented Guflac®, BABY-LONIA strikes a balance between durability and tactility, capturing the spirit of childhood and radical design.

DO NOT JUDGE A POUF BY ITS SPIKES!

Gufram is proud to present FACHIRO, a groundbreaking new seat that will be on display at Salone del Mobile in April.

It was 1975 when, still an architecture student, Marzio Cecchi designed FACHIRO. This seat reveals its comfort only when you sit down. They often advise not to judge a book by its cover; so, Gufram advises not to judge an armchair by its spikes. Like Gufram’s domestic and functional sculptures, Fachiro - coming in an exclusive limited edition - challenges perception: thanks to a workmanship that leaves nothing to chance, every spike guarantees the softened and lightness of a faux leather upholstered pouf. by @gufram

Originally created in 1972 by Guido Drocco and Franco Mello, CACTUS® completely flipped the idea of furniture on its head. Part coat rack, part sculpture, and full of personality.

Gufram’s limited-edition ANDY’S CACTUS® draws inspiration from Warhol’s iconic 1986 fright wig self-portraits with bold pop colors and playful energy. With only 99 pieces of each variant, it’s the ultimate statement piece for sunny days on our Bowery patio.
