I’m so glad I have this photo of my sister 🥺 and I can’t believe I almost didn’t.

At the time when I scheduled this photoshoot, it was right after my dad had a heart attack. He was stable but the realization that I had no photos with my family hit me so heavily. Maria was having a tough week and her oppositional defiance disorder and ocd were flaring up. She was saying no to everything she could especially things she knew were important to us.

My mom was worried about wasting the time of my team members, but since we all already had the day scheduled, It was too close to cancel. We pushed through and honestly on the day of Maria was lovely. She smiled and participated and we got her favorite dinner afterward.

We didn’t know at the time how quickly her restrictive lung disease would take over and I am so thankful we have these photos of her and our family.

I know I’ve been a little absent from @theguildgallery and @guildcanvas lately, but here I am with baby Leo!

Technically, Leo and I should still be 32 weeks pregnant. Instead, seven weeks ago our journey took an unexpected turn when I went into labor 15 weeks early and my baby boy was life flighted to Tacoma. Imagine being told you have to move 3 hours from home with zero time to prepare. 😵‍💫 We definitely have been surviving on caffeine and favors from our friends!!

While everything has changed for us, the responsibilities of everyday life did not. The mortgage still comes due. Groceries, gas, and medical bills continue to add up. At the same time, our focus needs to be on our son as he fights and grows in the NICU.

Right now, we’re choosing to put our energy into Leo and trust that we’ll figure out the rest as it comes. Right now, our family is walking through something we never expected. Our son Leo was born at just 25 weeks and is currently in the NICU, 3 hours from home.

In the middle of all of this, we are incredibly grateful for our Guild Canvas community. Your orders are not just orders to us right now. They are helping keep our team moving, helping us continue creating meaningful artwork, and helping support our family during one of the hardest seasons we’ve ever faced.
