Lost Property - Is this yours?

Did you lose a handbag in the city centre over the past week or so?

One has been handed in here at the Guildhall and we'd love to get it back to its owner. It's quite distinctive, so it should be easy to identify.

As there's no ID inside, we'll need a description of the bag to confirm it's yours.

We are ready to welcome back Other Voices Derry to the Guildhall as it kicks off tomorrow night right here in the Guildhall with a special opening concert.

Martin Hayes and Brian Donnellan coming together for a unique collaboration. Having joined us in Derry back in 2014 with his celebrated group The Gloaming, it’s a real joy to welcome Martin back alongside the great concertina and bouzouki player Brian Donnellan.

And then on Friday night as part of the Other Voices Music Trail, we welcome three incredible acts to the building:

Córas Trio - the Belfast-based trio of Kevin McCullagh, Paddy McKeown and Conor McAuley. Part of a new wave of musicians reimagining traditional music, weaving fiddle, guitar and drums with electronics and free improvisation.

Séamus & Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta - brother and sister duo from the Connemara Gaeltacht, acclaimed sean-nós singers and multi-instrumentalists. Their soulful performance of Anach Cuain went viral in 2022 and they were named RTÉ Folk Award Best Emerging Artists in 2024.

Kate Nash - the celebrated English songwriter playing Derry as part of her intimate Irish run this autumn, debuting songs from her new project Cailín exploring her Irish heritage, as part of Other Voices’ 25th anniversary.

A huge weekend of music ahead. Welcome to the Guildhall to all the artists, crew and music fans.

Derry City and Strabane District Council is delighted to announce the return of its popular Halloween Costume Swap initiative, which is now open at both the Guildhall and Riversdale Leisure Centre.

Now in its fourth year, the initiative encourages local people to donate unwanted costumes, accessories and props, giving them a second life while helping others find inspiration for their own Halloween creations. Running right through until Halloween, it offers a sustainable and affordable way to prepare for the festivities.

The Costume Swap is open to anyone wishing to donate or collect Halloween-themed costumes, accessories and props. Residents can drop off clean, reusable items at either location and browse the collection for ideas and costume pieces throughout the festival season.

Just look out for the special BOO-tique bins to make your donation.

A beautiful afternoon of healing coming to the Guildhall 🩷

On Sunday 4th October, the Guildhall will be the venue for Healing Hearts - Let Love In; a heart-led collaboration between Free Spirit Holistic Healing & Imbas.

♻️ Guildhall leads the way with reusable cups!

Derry City and Strabane District Council has taken another important step towards a greener future with the successful introduction of reusable cups and glasses at the Guildhall bar.

The new system made its debut at the sold-out Coronas concert over the weekend, helping to significantly reduce waste while proving popular with concertgoers.

By moving away from single-use options, this initiative supports the Council’s sustainability goals and commitment to reducing waste and single-use plastics.

Join us for Culture Night as we explore an evening of conversation, poetry and live performance.

Twa Tongues, Aon Tír Amháin (Two Tongues, One Land); is a joint author-led event celebrating the creativity, history and continuing relevance of poetry in the Irish and Ulster-Scots languages through conversation, poetry and live performance.

The event will bring together two award-winning writers and poets – Darren Gibson and Proinsias Mac a’ Bhaird, one working in Irish and one in Ulster-Scots, to explore their personal journeys as poets, the reasons they chose to write creatively in these languages, and the people, places, and traditions that have influenced their work.

A huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to the almost 100 people who joined us at the Guildhall today for our guided tours as part of European Heritage Open Days!

It was a brilliant day with a fantastic turnout. It's always a privilege to open the doors to one of our city's most iconic buildings and share the stories that you don't always get to hear - from the hidden symbolism in the stained glass, to the history held within the Council Chamber and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who came along, listened so attentively, asked such great questions, and brought such brilliant energy. It's what makes these days so special.
