Una animación que he hecho para practicar de Jesper y Klaus. El audio es de Shrek, creo que José Mota tiene una voz que podría pegarle a Jesper. Tenía ganas de hacer un acting elaborado y he podido aplicar cosas aprendidas, curiosamente y pese a lo diferente del estilo, en Gumball. Se une a la colección de animaciones basadas en personajes de Klaus enfadados de mi cuenta (la última animación que subí es de hace más de un año, madre mía). Deslizad para ver el rough que he incluido para que instagram no me maldiga con su formato de reels.

Acting shot based on Jesper and Klaus. The audio is from the first Shrek movie (in Spanish that is!). Done as a practice, I was able to apply some things that I learnt in Gumball from all places. It's been more than a year since I uploaded an animation here, whoops! Slide to see the rough animation, included with the sole purpose of avoiding the curse that is the Instagram reel format that is forced onto standalone videos.

I got to do the 3D animation for the sequence in which Rob is introduced in "The Rewrite" for The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball. Seeing the barren Maya viewport puts into perspective the magical effect that backgrounds and compositing have in a shot.

(Gumball spoilers) My rough animation ('genga'?) from 'The Synthesis'!

All the sequence was done in-house at Soi.

Everytime I upload something I say that @benjamin.wahl 's FX bring the shots to another level, but this time I mean it THE MOST. The shot with the clash in the sky is at least 80% fx! @thelaserbearguy was behind all the fx designs!

Clean-up was also very important to achieve that analogic feel. In order of appearance, the shots were cleaned up by Andrea Accennato, @andrade.art , @animacionb and @cocoabells

I was provided with some layout poses from the designers at Hannah Barbera that helped a ton. I don't know who did them, let me know if you read this! @freddieelsom 's style bible was a godsend as well.

I worked on this episode at the same time as I was animating the opening credits, it was an interesting couple of weeks. It also was the very first episode I worked on when I joined the 3D animation department (the shot with Ms Simian looking through the window was my debut).

More of my rough animation from The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball!
The scene that made 'The Wrinkle' one of my favorite episodes from the first batch. When I checked the assingments for that episode and saw that I would be the one animating this scene, I was ecstatic. I referred to it as the Darwin torture scene :p

The interior hall set + server room was made and mattepainted by Dani Cashmore. The stairs asset was made by Jamie Williams. The candle shots were mattepainted by Ola Kolendo. Plane scene was done at Soi but I still don't know who. Rest of the bgs were done by Adrian Cathie!

I don't know who did the rest of the compositing, boards, designs, etc, so let me know if you read this and I missed you.

Here's the rough 2D animation I did for The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball's opening. It still hasn't fully sunk in that I got to do the whole 2D key animation for it but here we are!

In the dancing shot you can see Ocho and the creepy clown giving their best, although, at the end, they didn't make the cut. But they are there, in spirit. Same with Carrie's wipe transition in the hallway shot - in the end that transition got handled differently, but you can still see Carrie lunging at the screen in the final version if you look closely. Other interesting things you might notice:

-Without the camera tracking, the characters linger in the screen during the last shot. Haha.

-I got to 'design' the smear frames and movements Gumball's 3D face would do during the very first shot. The silhouettes you see were then used in comp as guide. (I traced over the 3D models which were already finished at this point in time).

Again, it was surreal to be a part of this, alongside all the great team that worked on the intro. I'm very grateful to Mathias Schrek and Nadine Schwenk for their guidance (we spent many afternoons working on this together), and I'd like to give an over the top, extravagant and very exaggerated bow to:
everyone that took part in the clean up animation (@synsania, @cocoabells, @mokitoart, @bluestroke_, @veednet, Enrique Padrón), @ben_bocquelet for his feedback, @torpordust for the designs, @ahhratfarts, @freddieelsom, Vanessa Schneider and all my friends in Soi's production team. And everyone else who worked on the intro whose name I don't know! (I know that @jacksachs designed it though! Big bow to you too! (and to everyone else that worked in the show, in general))

A very funny scene I got to do from the episode The Traffic for The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball. The voice acting was top notch and asked for very exaggerated expressions. The underwater scene is a reference to the Sunken Place from Get Out.

I was responsible for the 2D rough animation which you can see on top. Below you have the finished shot:
Clean up was handled by @mokitoart , @lydia.schuettengruber , Solenn Le Padellec and @veednet . FX were done by @milgonc . I don't know who was responsible for the rest of the departments present in these shots so feel free to let me know if I didn't mention soneone. Comp made it look especially stunning!!

This is the rough animation I did for the Darwin kick in 'The Burger', the very first episode of The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball (although not the first we got to animate). It is a reference to the anime FLCL and I had a blast doing it. I was responsible just for the 2D key animation, which you can see in the first slide. Swipe to see the final shot, with @mokitoart 's clean up and @benjamin.wahl 's fx. This shot would be half as cool without them.

I look forward to share more rough stuff from the show from time to time!!

¡Ciao y el pájaro se han puesto sus mejores cosplays porque han sido seleccionados en la Comic Con de San Diego, para formar parte de su festival de cortometrajes independientes! ¡Y sí, la Comic Con de San Diego, la de EEUU! Ya podían habernos cogido en la de Málaga que queda más cerca...

¡Parte del equipo estaremos allí presencialmente así que si hay alguien por allí, que nos salude!

Ciao and Bird put on their best cosplays because they’ve been selected for San Diego Comic Con International, specifically for their Independent Film Festival!! And yes, San Diego’s Comic Con in the USA! They could’ve selected us for Malaga’s Comic Con since it’s a bit closer to home…

Part of the team will be traveling to San Diego to participate, so if anyone sees us there, come say hi!!

¡Voy a ser animador 2D en El Asombroso Mundo de Gumball!

I'm going to be a 2D animator for The Amazing World of Gumball!

Me hace mucha ilusión compartir esta noticia, Gumball es una serie que ha influenciado mi estilo muchísimo (quienes hayáis visto Gus o Kill Kurt sabréis a qué me refiero) y que vaya a animar en su séptima temporada me deja loquete. Formaré parte del equipo de Studio Soi en Alemania, y confío en que el cambio se me haga llevadero porque vamos tropecientos españoles a currar en la serie (si estáis leyendo esto sabéis quienes sois).

Por otra parte me da pena decir adiós (más bien hasta luego) a personas y cosas muy chulas de España, pero es lo que toca a veces. No será en el pie de una foto de Instagram donde me veáis ponerme dramático.

¡En resumidas cuentas, que muy contento, paso de dibujar un gato rosa a dibujar uno azul!
