I have struggled to fit in and not feel “weird” my whole life. I was a kid with glasses and messed up teeth who carried a sketchbook everywhere I went. It wasn’t until I was in my early 20’s I truly started feeling like it was okay to be weird. Matthew truly helped me realize it was okay to be unapologetically me.
-
Meeting him has been on my bucket list for a while, but I had struggled so long financially and mentally I never knew if it would come true. This past Saturday it did… and those moments I will hold with me for the rest of my life.
-
@matthewlillard thank you for being so patient, loving and kind. You inspire me so much as an educator to make differences in children’s lives. I hope one day I can become as impactful as you have been for me. I cannot thank you enough. You are what this world needs.
-
I would wake up at 4am, do my makeup, sit outside of a venue and watch the sun rise with strangers all over again if it meant I got to meet him again.

I work at the most magical place in WV. As of this month I officially got a job at The Huntington Museum of Art as Education Coordinator! I have big shoes to fill, and I’m learning every single day. But… how thankful am I to live a life where I work in an art museum. Every. Single. Day.

🎨 Artist Spotlight: Marlee Kaiser (she/her/they/them) ✨

📍 Meet Marlee Kaiser, a returning Art Walk vendor and multi-medium artist whose work is rooted in printmaking, Appalachian culture, and storytelling. Outside of the studio, Marlee is also a cymbal instructor with Marshall University’s Drumline, #HerdBeats. 🐱🎨🥁

💡 What Inspires Their Work:
Marlee’s artwork often centers around themes of consent, frequently using cats—many inspired by their own—as playful and relatable messengers. They also draw inspiration from Appalachian folklore, insects, local foods, and the unique stories found throughout the region.

🛠️ Art Process:
While printmaking is Marlee’s primary medium, visitors can also find stickers, prints, jewelry, and even occasional stained glass pieces at their table. Their work combines humor, education, and Appalachian influences into creations that are both meaningful and fun.
