Texturing ✍️

Māori tattoos are far more than body art. Every line, curve, and spiral tells a story, representing a person’s identity, ancestry, achievements, and connection to their community.

A facial expression can completely change how we perceive a character. Even before any dialogue or movement, our brains instinctively read emotions like fear, anger, determination, surprise, or joy just from the position of the eyes, mouth, and eyebrows.

That’s why facial expressions are just as important as anatomy in 3D character creation. A subtle adjustment can turn a lifeless face into one that genuinely communicates emotion.

One of the best examples of this is the Haka, the traditional Māori ceremonial dance of New Zealand. In the Haka, facial expressions are far more than a visual detail. They’re an essential part of the performance. Wide eyes, a protruding tongue, and intense facial tension amplify the message of strength, courage, and presence.

That idea of conveying emotion through expression alone is what I explored in this study.

What emotion does this face convey to you? 👀

For a long time, I believed the quality of the work would speak for itself.

Sometimes it does.

But in a world where thousands of talented people go unnoticed, showing the process has become just as important as creating the work itself.

Not to impress people.

To give them a reason to care. by @guimo3d

The internet only shows the final result, but almost everything meaningful starts in silence.

Late nights. Small rooms. Rejected ideas. Repetition. Doubt.

Nobody sees the invisible phase, the part where you keep creating without knowing if it will ever become something bigger.

Small beginnings still matter. by @guimo3d
