Apollo & Paris

There’s a lot of characters and gods from the story, but the scenes of Apollo revealing himself to others and him standing on top of the walls of Troy stayed in my mind for a while. While falling asleep one day, this “image” of Apollo looming tall behind Paris, aiding his arrow to Achilles’ death struck me

[reworked] Bibliophile

Revisited this piece from earlier this year! The original is on the second slide

Still one of pieces I like, it’s inspired by my reignited hobby of reading that helped me stay afloat during quarantine

Through me

Inspired by the song with the same name by HOZIER!!! When I first listened to that song, this imagery of smoke and fire came to me…The first sketch was done months ago, but the actual process of painting this only took like, maybe less than 5 days. His lyricism dealing with grieve and loss, the poetry of it all is amazing - and honestly his singing and way of writing is just 🤛🤌😭😩🔥

Overlay illustrations for Immortal Game by @allisonhsaft, for @litpinsandco

As I always work in color, it was refreshing to work with BW (+ focus color) once in a while! Loved working in a variety of scenes, and can you tell I had fun mixing celtic knot/inspirations with chess pieces in these designs haha

Thank you for having me on this project!

Hardcover for The Last Starborn Seer by @venetiaconstantine

I had the joy of creating this illustration for the @fairyloot edition of The Last Starborn Seer. For the sceptre’s design, I drew inspiration from Art Nouveau architecture and various sceptre designs through time, with a touch of magic. It was refreshing to create a prop-focused illustration, and I had so much fun with the design process figuring out where and how to fit all those gems 💎✨ The final book with silver foil effects really enhances the magical vibe!

Thank you to AD Jenna, the Fairyloot team and Venetia for their trust!

Endpapers for The Poet Empress by @storygoose

As a fan of historical fiction, I am delighted to be part of this edition of Shen Tao’s The Poet Empress. Thank you to AD Teresa / @divineliterary from @owlcrate for inviting me, I very much enjoyed painting these serene and emotional moments! I used bleeding ink textures in the background to evoke the feeling of calligraphy, relating back to the core theme of language and poetry throughout the story

Thank you again to Teresa and Shen for their trust throughout this project!

Year of the Fire Horse 🎠🔥

Belated happy lunar new year ✨
Took awhile, but finally done!

Song of choice while working on this was Linkin Park - The Catalyst. The song’s energy matched well with feeling of momentum I wanted to carry in this painting (the part I chose for the post is later part of the song, and I recommend listening to full song if you are interested!)

May we find courage and joy to keep moving forward
