GULTSCHEEN: Golden Ära

In this episode of Gultscheen, we will explore the Golden Era of Afghan Music—a time when the country was most stable and peaceful. It was during this period that the first transmissions of ‘Radio Afghanistan’ resonated through the valleys of Spēn Ghar and the corridor of Wakhan. Artists from this era, such as Ahmad Zahir, Sarban, Ustad Mahwash, Nainawaz, and Parisa Mursal, are now recognized as legends of Afghan music. Their unique and timeless melodies, which blend traditional Afghan, classical Indian, and Western music, laid the foundation for modern Afghan music as we know it today.
