We urgently need your help to make this week's event happen. It would be a real shame to cancel on our namesake weekend! 💥 At the moment, we simply don't have enough volunteers to safely cover all of the essential roles. Unless we have more people step forward, we may have no choice but to cancel. We know everyone loves turning up on a Saturday morning to walk, run or jog, but we can't continue to safely deliver our event without new faces volunteering. Some roles can be paired with a run and these we cover easily, the ones we are missing require someone to give up a run. You don't need any experience and there are lots of essential roles we need to fill before we can add all the extra roles like pacers. If you’ve never volunteered before, this is your call to action and consider joining in with the parkrun spirit and help make Saturday mornings happen. We’ve not had to cancel before for a lack of volunteer’s but it’s entirely possible. Unless we can fill the upcoming roster’s our extra Christmas Day and New Years Day events are also in jeopardy as we will need to prioritise 26th December and 2nd January. Thanks in advance. The Gunpowder Team (which you can absolutely be a part of!) 📧 Gunpowder@parkrun.com by @gunpowderparkrun
Remember, remember… Bonfire Weekend is coming! We need a few extra sparks to light up next Saturday morning! 💥 Before we get carried away with fireworks, as per our name let’s make sure our parkrun goes off with a bang! We’re looking for some lovely volunteers to come forward and help make this Saturday’s parkrun happen. Whether you’re a regular volunteer or fancy giving it a go for the first time, we’d absolutely love to have you on the team. ❤️ No experience needed, just a smile and a willingness to help! Every role makes a difference, and without our amazing volunteers, parkrun simply wouldn’t happen. 📧 Drop us a message or comment below if you can help. Let’s make this weekend sparkle at Gunpowder Park! ✨ #parkrun #GunpowderPark #VolunteersMakeparkrun by @gunpowderparkrun

Event 707 💥 207 athletes and 18 volunteers making yesterday morning a beautiful start to a weekend. Daniela did her V25, Dave his V50 (actually his 51st) and Daniella her 100th run and a PB. Did we have any other names not starting with D for milestones today? We hope our tourists from Basildon, Rugby and Sussex enjoyed their visit. Next week we need an additional tail walker and then future weeks we have several volunteer roles up for grabs. Please e-mail us if you would like to join us. The 24th October is our anniversary run - 15yrs of Gunpowder. Let the tutus loose again and dress ready to party. With parkrun on 31st it’s also an excuse to get spooky - which could be frightening if we don’t have enough volunteers 😉 You know what to do. Have a great week. 🌳 #loveparkrun by @gunpowderparkrun
Happy 22nd Birthday parkrun UK! 248 athletes enjoyed our birthday event, with pacers, community cafe and fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support. Thank you to everyone who donated via the QR code and also for the contributions to the food bank collection. Have a great week, we’ll be back next week for event 707. 🌳 #loveparkrun by @gunpowderparkrun
This weekend is a busy one! We have a birthday to celebrate as parkrun turns 22 (tutus are welcome)! We have our community cafe which is also our Macmillan coffee morning. We are collecting for the local food bank and we have our monthly pacer event. So here is your checklist to remember: Your reusable cup for hot drinks A cake to share A tin/packet for the foodbank Some money to donate Your personal barcode A tutu if you fancy it Smiles! We are looking forward to seeing you there! by @gunpowderparkrun
Under blue skies, runners, walkers, buggies, volunteers and paws took to the course yesterday. Congratulations to Waltham Cross Playing Field junior parkrun ED Richard for his 50th volunteer and 250th run. Huge thanks to the runners who came together and supported during an incident this morning. All is now well and a testimony to the community we’ve built at Gunpowder. 🧡 Next week will be a busy one! We will be celebrating parkrun’s 22nd birthday, along with our community cafe in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. We will be collecting donations for Broxbourne foodbank, trainer recycling and, of course, pacers. parkrun will always be free, and there is no expectation for you to donate but we’d be very grateful if you are able to. We have increased our available pacer bibs, which are now available from 19 minutes up to 45mins in one minute increments as well as a 50 min pacer. Our future rosters need some volunteer love, so please take a look and drop us an email. The parkrun app is the one place where you can check your results and offer to volunteer. We mentioned that Christmas Day parkrun is a possibility once again as we have an RD willing to volunteer, but with 4 opportunities to parkrun over 9 days, we will need the community to come together and support a safe event. It’s NEVER too early to put yourself on the nice list! Have a great week. 🌳 #loveparkrun by @gunpowderparkrun

Event 700 ✅ Runners, walkers, paws, wheels, volunteers and cake, oh so much cake! Thank you everyone for joining us on such a bright and breezy morning. We had 244 athletes, 43 of which were first time visitors and 7 brand new shiny parkrunners with 35 of you claiming a personal best. All, of course, supported by 19 fabulous volunteers. Visitors came from far flung places such as St Albans, Berkhamstead, Fools Cray Meadows in Kent, Cambridge, Ware, Stratford and Hong Kong! Our Sign Language Support 👋 stool was stood on and you all responded well to incorporating Deaf clapping - thank you. Our ‘Give me space vests’ were available and worn, and the biggest cheer of all was that the toilets were open! In amongst all the fun, Congratulations to Darren on his 250th run! We need some volunteers for next week so please get in touch via email or through the app and we can add you in for the dates you can do. 🌳 #loveparkrun #SignLanguageSupport #PleaseGiveMeSpace #parkrunvolunteer by @gunpowderparkrun
