Beside every piece of Canadian artists Meryl McMasters photo artwork there is a poem; Cartography of the unseen. Dunes of ancient lakes, Glacial meltwater. Covering over previous lives. A place once rich with life. Otchak ka sãkowet voice. Rooted in an ever present distant time. Always erasing and rewriting. A trove of hidden wisdom and experience. Place, Yehkaw Wachik (The Great Sandhills), Saskatchewan. #art#artoninstagram#photoartwork#canadianindigenousartist#indigenouscanadianartistMerylMasters#MerylMcMasterIkonGallery#IkonBirmingham#AsImmenseAsTheSkyexhibition#performativeselfportraits#photoselfportraits#birminghamartscene by @gunta_krumins

Loved these little pencil pots(my description) by Ali Tomlin who creates clean forms enlivened by expressive marks. #art#ceramics#artoninstagram#contemporaryceramics#handthrownceramics#ceramicexhibition#lineandformexhibition#ceramicsAliTomlin#ContemporaryCeramicsCentre#ceramicsLondon by @gunta_krumins

Last night had a little treat and went to a salon at the Latvian Embassy, of a piano recital by Latvian pianist Solveiga Selga. Just a snippet of F. Chopin Berceuse op 57 Db maj. Such a privilege! #music#musiconinstagram#liveperformance#pianorecital#pianorecitalLatvianEmbassy#pianistSolveigaSelga#femalepianist#pianorecitalChopin#BerceuseChopin#musicsalon#musicsalonlatvianembassy#LatvianBalticassociation#londonmusicscene by @gunta_krumins

Mixed media portrait Lenox 2019 by the artist Tschabalala Self from the fabulous Radical Figures exhibition at the Whitechapel Gallery. The work is too cartoonish for me but the mixed media is interesting in an exhibition about painting ! #art#artoninstagram#portrait#painting#mixedmediaportrait#modernmixedmedia#modernart#artistTschabalalaSelf#RadicalFigures#ExhibitionRadicalFigures#RadicalFiguresWhitechapelGallery#WhitechapelGalleryLondon#Londonartscene by @gunta_krumins

Painting and mixed media portrait from the very enjoyable Radical Figures at the Whitechapel Gallery London. I didn’t enjoy Tschabalala Self’s work so much as the others as too cartoonish for me ! From Radical Figures exhibition at the Whitechapel. Devoted to a group of painters who have sought to go against the current trends in art and carried on painting. Wonderful exhibition recognizing paintings as being current and valid. “Duchess in Oils 2014 grew out of an idea of painting an actor who simultaneously manifest all the other roles. As the critic Januszcak said he has found a way to squeeze five human heads onto a single neck without the results feeling surreal! #art#artoninstagram#painting#portraitpainting#modernportrait#modernpainting#RyanMosely#BritishartistRyanMosely#RadicalFigures#RadicalFigurespaintingshow#RadicalfiguresWhitechapelGallery#WhitechapelGalleryLondon#Londonartscene by @gunta_krumins
