Trying traditional Chinese brush painting brought back memories of the old days, when my father was still here with us. It is still hard to accept that he is gone. I miss him more than I ever imagined. This small drawing is for my father. May his soul rest in peace. ‘I miss you. ‘ by @guojing.art

⭐️Book Review ⭐️

Q: What ocean creature would you be? 🐙

This little picture book ended up giving us one of those unexpectedly special moments 🥰 I started narrating the pages for my 5yr old, putting the story into my own words. After a few pages, she began adding her own thoughts, matching the pictures in her own way. Halfway through, my 8yr old joined us and before long, we were all contributing ❤️

What started as a simple, slightly tentative story turned into something shared: full of imagination, laughter and their personalities shining through. It became a moment of connection, the three of us building a story together, the kind of memory that will stick with you.

My 5yr old’s favorite was the shiny seashell necklace (no surprise there!) 🐚 She wanted to be like the jelly fish because they reminded her of fairies.. 🪼Or be a shiny magical seashell.

While my 8yr old thought a lot about the plastic that showed up in some of the pages. She felt passionate about wanting to do a beach cleanup and coming up with ways to help keep our oceans clean! 🌊 Her biggest idea was to have a giant strainer ship (she got her idea from when we strain pasta) that could magically detect plants and animals so they wouldn’t get stuck while it swept the ocean free of garbage 🐠🪸

The Octopus by Guojing @guojing.art

This story about sea creatures and our responsibility to care for our world (such as putting trash where it belongs) is told entirely through vivid and beautiful illustrations. I’m obsessed with Octopi. They are stunning and highly intelligent creatures, so naturally I had to have this gorgeous book. This wondrous story is appropriate for a child of any age. For that matter, anyone, young or older, who loves creation, the natural world, and artistic expression will enjoy this colorful picture book! I know I did, but I’m basically a big kid. 😉

What an imaginative wordless book! Working off of beautiful illustration, it crafts a whimsical story of a little girl and her sea adventure

My nieces and nephews really enjoyed this one, it’s even better when they sit with it on their own and tell themselves their own versions of the story (they stop the second the camera comes out of course😑)

Sidenote:
• Clearly I do not have a career in audio narration ahead of me 😂

• Just had to point out when my older nephew, who’s in 3rd grade, became intrigued and chimed in. It truly enchanted all of them!

• it made me smile how concerned the kids were about the mom’s whereabouts ❤️ by @guojing.art
