IC 63 the Ghost of Cassiopeia. So much went wrong with the capture but in the end I was able to save the ghost!

I had to toss 8 hours of rgb data because I learned that you can’t use a light pollution filter with a bright star on a sct and get away with 5 min subs. 😂 apparently with internal reflections there were giant secondary reflections covering the ghost when stacked. I was able to at least salvage the rgb stars.

I went back and added some narrowband data for a total of 14 hours and normalized the ha to the gold so that I could recover the light nebulosity. Used photoshop (I just muddle through I know my layers are wack haha) but I was able to blur the blue halo and reduce opacity to turn the defect into one of my favorite parts of gamma cas! I overlayed the rgb star with spikes to help sell it as intentional.

Last slide was me just goofing with the original red ha data and blending it into my image. Artificial lens flare for an artistic representation.

I guess as Bob Ross said “We don’t make mistakes, we just have happy accidents”

M33 Triangulum Galaxy - you know it you love it show her you care by adding in that extra hydrogen this year. Those stellar nurseries are for her kiddos after all. 😜

My first continuum subtraction. I also added in the o3 layer as a subtle glow enhancement. Not the norm but I liked it.

NGC 891 Silver Sliver galaxy. Say that out loud 😂

Still learning how to process galaxies. Definitely a challenge with sct optics but I’m getting better at it. I framed up some companion galaxies that were next door. You can check out the panorama and last image for those bonuses. Critiquing welcome. It’s how we get better!

I did this with no filter curious to see if I can get away with light pollution. Short answer yes lol. 7 hrs 3 min subs

MARS! I was packing up last night at 6am and saw mars sitting dead middle of the beehive cluster. Grabbed 4 mins cuz it was such a cool shot. Not the standard Astro shot but o f those cool moments that catches you off guard! 🤩 by @guybartov

NGC 281 - Pacman Nebula in SHO! 9200ly away and 100ly across we get a glimpse of this nebula as it was at the dawn of human civilization.

It also occurred to me the ghost of Cassiopeia is one star down in the constellation really bringing the Pacman theme together 😉

Breakdown of the extracted channels and how they recombine to form this image.

Slide 4-5
close up shot so you can pinch and zoom all the cool pillars and bok globules hiding in there!

My first SHO image. Wizard nebula where I took my 15 hrs of Ha O3 and added 7 hours of S2 O3. Tried a dozen different ways. I was most satisfied with extracting channel before stacking, pre process ha and s and combine the o3 channels together, pixel math combination, 50% scnr, color enhancement and ps for touch ups!

Thanks to @astrotanja for sho processing advice, siril Facebook group peeps, and AstroFly (by Michael Döhler) for the visualizer!

3 panel slide across the sky starting with the Firewoeks galaxy and ending at ghost bush cluster.

I don’t normally like to put the targets in the outside of an SCT frame but they fit so nicely at this rotation!

327mins on my old mount but blur xterminator 5 really fixed the star shapes up so I thought I’d release this one 🙏🏻
