Taz-Artikel von Stefan Otto aus dem Jahr 2010, illustriert mit Fotos von Boris Niehaus.
Der Artikel selbst verrät viel über den Autor und seine Sicht auf den Wandel der Stadt. Ich fühlte mich hier stark als Vehikel für Projektionen des Autors. So weit, so normal.

Ich hatte damals mit Hilfe einer Kollegin einige meiner Texte ins Türkische übersetzt. Es ging mir darum, die ständige Forderung nach „Integration“ umzukehren. Als jemand, der mit Texten arbeitet, ist die Sprache, in der sie verfasst sind, ein grundlegendes Ein- oder Ausschlusskriterium für ihre Rezeption. Urban Art sollte sich auch ihrer Umgebung bewusst sein.

Tatsächlich gibt es einige schöne Anekdoten über diese spezifischen Plakate. Manche hingen über 10 Jahre lang, manche sind vom Buffing (Überstreichen/Reinigen) drumherum verschont geblieben. Da ich kein Türkisch kann, habe ich türkischstämmige Anwohner_innen befragt, was auf den Plakaten steht und habe dabei sehr schöne Rückübersetzung zu hören bekommen.

The article itself reveals a lot about the author and his view of the city's transformation. I felt very much like a vehicle for the author's projections. So far, so normal.

At the time, I had translated some of my texts into Turkish with the help of a colleague. My aim was to reverse the constant demand for "integration". As someone who works with texts, the language in which they are written is a fundamental inclusion or exclusion criterion for their reception. Urban art should also be aware of its surroundings.

In fact, there are some nice anecdotes about these specific posters. Some have hung for over 10 years, some have been spared the buffing (painting over/cleaning) around them. Since I don't speak Turkish, I asked residents of Turkish origin what was written on the posters and got to hear some very nice back-translations.

"The Future will eat itself" spraypaint stenciled on paper, Berlin 2008 at Haus Schwarzenberg. An awesome and rare place full of art, history and culture that still looks and feels like the Berlin the CDU so desperately wants to get rid of.
