‘We have definitely reacted against open-plan living,’ says @celiaweinstock of the Chelsea townhouse she shares with her husband Max Benitz and their two infant sons...’It’s mainly comprised of small rooms where we all have private spaces,’ says Celia. ‘I love the layout and we use all the rooms, which is very satisfying.’

An enormous thank you to @houseandgardenuk @interiorseditor @pratyushsarup @horwoodphoto for such a wonderful cover story, and to Celia for trusting us to realise her brilliant vision.

‘We have definitely reacted against open-plan living,’ says jeweller Celia Weinstock (@celiaweinstock) of her sentimental and artfully considered Chelsea home, which graces our November cover.

Bucking the trend for open-plan living, Celia, her husband Max Benitz and designer Guy Goodfellow (@guygoodfellow) created a series of intimate, pocket-sized rooms, building a sense of character and grandeur that belies the house’s proportions. ‘It makes the house feel more impressive than its size should dictate,’ explains Guy, whose English country-house sensibility can be felt throughout.

Art was the starting point for the entire design. ‘I inherited Old Masters and antiques from my family, so that dictated the look of the house,’ says Celia. ‘I grew up with these pieces, so they have sentimental value.’ Every painting and object was measured and incorporated into the architectural drawings before work began, allowing for the couple to reinvent the house around the way they wanted to live.
