Two days at @emiratesot for the final Lancs fixture of the season in what's been a pretty dismal year for the men on the field. It's still so great to have this place, and now Farington, where I watched an excellent women's One Day Cup game in Crossy's final weeks as a pro, so close to me, and to be a member of this famous club.

You can only hope a new CEO and directors of cricket can turn things around for Lancs. No one likes to see us lose again and again.

But, I'll happily watch Championship cricket here forever. And with Women's World Cup, T20 internationals and Hundred, I've had 9 lovely days here alone. See you in April!

About last Wednesday..... 👀

Still can't quite believe I played @hiibizaofficial in the mad Wild Room, with my old @sonofbangers partner in crime, Tom, and Dan Tait and @ellaeyre.

I was last there the night the club opened, 9 years ago, and thought I'd played my last gig on the island, but it's funny how things can crop up, so closing the room with a big slice of #bangers was magic. Having @andihawes08 along for the ride was the cherry on top. Perfect wingman.

This lot is just a bit of a taster of how it went down. The memories are crystal clear (helps when you're sober), the music was pumping all night, and I've ticked off a bit of a bucket list. ⚡

It's fun being back on the island, long after I'd have thought I was too old for all of this.

Bit more chilled this time. Walking around Portinax with @andihawes08, and the finest grilled fare I've eaten in a while.

So great to finally get to Farington for my first game, even better to be able to catch one of my all time favourite cricketers play one of their final games as a pro.

I've loved watching @crossy16 play ever since I got into women's cricket (far too late, though) and I've been lucky enough to see her play for Lancs and in the Hundred at Old Trafford. I wish I'd seen her play for England.

She's the definition of a consummate pro, debuting 21 years ago as a 13 year old. She's taken wickets everywhere she's played and as truly sad as it is it's coming to a close, she will be a legend for the rest of time. It's a privilege to see her bat and bowl today in a good win for Lancs.

Another year, another amazing day of cricket at @wormsleyestate for the @finalwordcricket v @wisden_cricket match with the @lordstaverners courtesy of @zeussleeps.

Great nerds, great people, great cause, great cricket, crappy cricket, loose Comms and broad sunshine. ❤️🌞

And TFW come out on top by 15-odd runs. 💯

A month down the line being out of work has been refreshing, interesting, relaxing, strange, anxiety-inducing and all sorts more emotions, but it's also 100% been the right thing (even if it's been with a heavy heart). 💔

I know I don't post about work on here (ever really, separation of church and state and all that, as it should be) but I left AJ Bell after 7 and a bit years at the end of June. It wasn't planned, nor would I have wanted to, but a restructure made the role I loved redundant, and I didn't get either of the new roles in the setup. I always knew I'd probably leave if it didn't work out, as much as building and working with my team has been the biggest and proudest achievement of my career. But you know when it's time to move on. And I'll enjoy watching that team and many good friends thrive from afar 💯

But I also likely knew I'd never get another opportunity to have time off with the family in the summer, especially with Leila, so that was a big part of my decision. I realise how lucky I am to be in this position, watching TV (ok, cricket, cycling, football, rugby) and chilling out properly for the first time in years. Of course I've been looking at roles, and anxious about what's next, but also excited about where I could end up. I've never left a job in my 30s or 40s without knowing the next step. But for now, I'm still enjoying the chance to go to the park all morning, go roller skating with my daughter, or go to the Hundred as a family, and it's quite good, really.
