Race week is here!

In just a few days, I’ll be racing IRONMAN 70.3 Texas in Dallas–Little Elm on March 15 in honor of my dad and all of those who have been touched by Alzheimers and HIV.

Training for this race has been physical, emotional, and at times a little crazy. Between travel, trying to stay consistent with workouts on the road, and some pretty wild weather here in Dallas, getting the training in hasn’t always been easy. But every mile has been about remembering his strength and the love he gave so freely.

I’m incredibly grateful to Coach @coach_jim_playtri , the athletes I have been training with, and the amazing teams at @playtridfw , @ironmanfoundation , @ironmantri , who have helped guide me through the months of prep and made this journey possible.

I’m also racing as part of TEAM IMF, raising funds for the IRONMAN Foundation to support programs that make a real difference in communities around the world. I’m deeply grateful for everyone who has already supported the cause.

If you’ve been thinking about contributing, race week feels like the perfect moment. Every donation helps carry this mission forward.

I’m racing a Half IRONMAN in honor of my father, Juan Alejandro Guzmán Almonte ❤️ I’ll be racing IRONMAN 70.3 Texas (Dallas–Little Elm) on March 15, 2026.

He passed away on September 13, 2025, after a devastating battle with Alzheimer’s. He also lived with HIV, carrying that reality with grace and strength during a time when openness came with great risk, especially in the Dominican Republic.

This has been a year of personal and professional challenges and taking on this race has become a way to find grounding, purpose, and a way to honor him.

A Half IRONMAN may not “count” to the full-distance crowd, but let’s be real: 
🏊‍♂️ 1.2 miles
🚴‍♂️ 56 miles
🏃‍♂️ 13.1 miles
…that feels like plenty of crazy for now.

I’ll swim, bike, and run for him, and for every family facing Alzheimer’s and HIV.

My fundraising goal is $5,000, and if we reach it… trust me, I’m moving the goalposts. The more we raise, the more we can help communities who need it most.

Con profundo dolor, mi hermano Francisco Alberto Guzmán Meléndez y yo, Joan Luis Guzmán Meléndez, comunicamos el sensible fallecimiento de nuestro padre, Juan Alejandro Guzmán Almonte, quien ha partido a la Casa del Padre.

Sus cenizas serán veladas en la Funeraria Jardín Memorial, Capilla Celestial, Avenida Jacobo Majluta, el miércoles 17 de septiembre, de 11:00 a.m. a 4:00 p.m.

His ashes will be viewed at Funeraria Jardín Memorial, Capilla Celestial, Avenida Jacobo Majluta, on Wednesday, September 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
