Thanks for your robust replies to our post re: open studio spaces for lease! We’re excited to announce that our three smaller art studios have been filled by three amazing local artists (@catherinesieck @krbakerart @alexzzzandriaz). Now to fill some bigger workshop spaces!

The Classroom, 1,500sqft is available for shared use or rental in its entirety starting July 1st. Insulated walls, mini-split, skylights, in the heart of The East Mill, surrounded by farm pick ups and youth nature programs. The space has previously been a folk school, cotton clothing company, and most recently a woodshop.

This just in: the West Mill Warehouse is coming available July 1st! This one doesn’t turn over often. 4,000sqft of maker space with insulated walls, high ceilings and three phase power. A cabinet shop is on its way out, so we’re looking for 3 more folks to lease out approx 1,000sqft each, to share the space with the amazing sculpturist @corybrown31 who will also be moving in as of July 1st.

Here’s to more art on the land!

Join Aubrie of @brambletailhomestead for a three day immersive workshop in cheesemaking, June 5-7, located on the collective lands of Green Valley Farm + Mill. We’ll start off Friday afternoon with an introduction to dairy fermentation, complete with tastings. Saturday will start with a cow milking demonstration then discussion of managed grazing, followed by hands-in-the-pot cheesemaking. We’ll close out Sunday with preparing our cheeses for the next step in their various aging processes and answering any lingering questions!

So grateful to work with the epic and kind crew @fire.forward this past week to bring beneficial fire to the land here @gvfam. Together we brought low and slow fire through eight acres of mixed hardwood forest to reduce fuel loads and regenerate the forest ecology. It was awe-inspiring to have over 50 people on the land, including local agencies, making sure surrounding lands were safe, appropriate water lines were laid, volunteers were fed, and that fire was carried through the land in a good way. Thanks so much to all of you who participated! And thanks to our neighbors for trusting the process.

Thank you so much for hosting us! We are so grateful to have learned from farmers Mai, Aubrie, and Caiti!

We learned about Managed Grazing practices for soil health, native species recovery, and carbon sequestration. Then we enjoyed delicious cheese made from Aubrie’s herd, and bread made by Sonoma Mountain Breads with Farmer Mai’s flour.

We explored Aubrie’s apothecary garden and visited Farmer Mai’s grain field and mill all located at Green Valley Farm and Mill.

We were all so inspired to hear about Farmer Mai’s grain growing initiative for healthier, more nutritious, and equitable wheat. 🌾

We hosted a sweet gathering of students and professors from Sonoma State University, in what will hopefully become a series of many farm tours and experiential workshops to come, as part of a Center that our dear friend Caiti Hachmyer @redhfarm is launching: The Center for Just Food Systems. The vision for the Center is to foster leaders in policy and advocacy who will bring a transformational and holistic lens to careers in food and agriculture. We are so inspired by Caiti’s work and honored to participate in some of the on farm education components!

We took a full walk of the land @gvfam and toured @brambletailhomestead ‘s various operations as well as @farmermainguyen ‘s grain mill and growing seed bank, then sat in the Apothecary Garden for a vibrant snack of bread baked exclusively from Farmer Mai’s heirloom flour, topped with hunks of our six-month Aged Tomme, and globs of fresh pesto made directly from the garden. Everyone munched and sipped fresh mint tea, over powerful discussions of food sovereignty and land regeneration.
