New bag I made. I’m pretty happy with how it came out!

Used this to make patterns, tweak my LM36 prototype, and overall refine the design.

I think it’ll be a minute before I want to do this much stitching in a single piece. It’s about 20’ (6m) of hand-stitching! by @gwaldo

Reporters, casters, and politicos,
Stop saying “gaslighting”.

The word you’re looking for is “Lying”.

Gaslighting is a specific kind of lying, but it’s still lying.

Many of the times I see the word “gaslighting” used aren’t examples of that, but they’re still lies. by @gwaldo

I’m super-happy with this final project of the year! A 9-pocket gator-skin bifold wallet, hand-cut, stitched, and burnished. The person who commissioned it hunted this gator themselves, and sent it off to be tanned. This was my first time working with an exotic leather, and I’m pleasantly surprised at how it turned out! by @gwaldo

I got to do a small commission for A. They wanted a toothpick holder/fob for their partner. A number of factors - including speed of responses - made it super-easy to collaborate on the details. But seeing their face this morning when they picked it up made it a very satisfying outcome! by @gwaldo

This was a project of love and respect, for someone who had given much to me. An exercise in restraint, practicality, and design.

I’m happy with this bag. I think it’s beautiful, if awkward in some ways. Most importantly, it provided several lessons in features.

You can’t buy this bag from me. I wouldn’t make this bag exactly the same again, because making it exposed its flaws and strengths. But I’ll use the lessons from this bag going forward. Let me know if you’re interested in this bag’s intellectual descendants. by @gwaldo

Been awhile since I’ve posted something that I’ve made, but this is a messenger bag strap for the sweet lady for whom I’d made the firewood tote for last year.

I’d like to say I’ll be better about posting things I make, but we all know that’s probably not going to be true…

Hurricane Milton has passed us. The worst of the storm was between 2 and 4am, mainly as the eye had passed, and we were getting the backside swing of the storm center.

We still have power and internet, and amazingly only a few blips in power during the worst of it.

Local friends, if you need anything, let us know, even if it’s just a shower.

My most immediate problem is that the MVP Tool for our cleanup will be a rake, and that’s going to be a PITA to dig out of the garage. by @gwaldo

As is my hurricane tradition, I’ve Tetris’d up my workshop garage to bring my car in for the storm.

As with Tennis, it is a game of inches. by @gwaldo
