We’re excited to announce two FREE pest management learning opportunities at MAP this September, presented in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension, Cornell Integrated Pest Management, NOFA-NY, and the Tool Library!

These are two separate events with different areas of focus, register for whichever event best fits your interests. You do not need to attend both.

🌱 INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT FIELD DAY
Thursday, September 10 | 3:00–6:00 PM
Join us for a hands-on field day exploring pest management and season-extension tools for urban growing spaces. Learn how to use row covers and insect-exclusion netting, visit CCE’s demonstration trial focused on managing swede midge in brassica crops, and hear how local growers manage pests organically and extend their growing seasons. Mayda from @gwmgbflo will join to share about how she uses IPM at her farm. We will also discuss identifying rat activity, reducing attractants, and strengthening overall site management.

🐀 RAT CONTROL COMMUNITY WORKSHOP
Saturday, September 26 | 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
Rats are part of urban ecosystems, but unmanaged populations can threaten public health, food safety, backyard poultry, crops, and soil health. Participants will learn to recognize signs of rat activity and locate burrows, reduce pest attractants, and understand humane, environmentally responsible control options. The training will include a practical burrow-treatment demonstration, and attendees will become eligible to rent the BurrowRx machine through the Tool Library.

📍 Both events will be held at:
Massachusetts Avenue Project
387 Massachusetts Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14213

📣 it's the last night to get pizza. i repeat, IT'S THE LAST NIGHT TO GET PIZZA !!! 📣

fun fact: Depeche mode wrote this song about pizza in 1981! & if you read a fun fact on the internet, it must be true.

We've got lots of great veggies still cranking out of the fields, + yoga with @miss_hunne at 6pm.

Also @ub_veggievan will be joining us with info about their programs.

4 - 7 PM. Come through !!! by @gwmgbflo

All the tomato freaks to the front 🤪🤟

This is the face we're making at you if you're still buying diarrhea lettuce and salmonella jalapenos at the grocery store and not supporting your local farmer.

Just two weeks left to get pizza from Andrew this summer! + cold ciders on tap from @theciderproject & garden flow at 6pm with @miss_hunne.
