The Finance Department at GW Business coordinates with the GW Investment Institute (GWII) and the Center for Real Estate Studies (CRES) to give students experience managing real assets, visiting investment banks and financing startups.The programs have a hands-on approach with smaller classes, direct faculty interaction and projects where students do the work rather than just study it. Students manage dynamic portfolios and are constantly thinking about what's happening in the markets today and what comes next. Before coming to GW, Sodaba Rahmaty, MBA '26, worked for the United Nations in Afghanistan. But after the Taliban's return to power, the country changed rapidly and women and girls faced sweeping restrictions on education. That reality pushed her to work even harder toward her goals.After arriving in D.C., Sodaba set her sights on continuing her education and seized the opportunities available through GW Business.
