shrek the musical- perry players summer 2026 💚🧅

after not getting casted in one of my dream shows at the theater i’ve been performing at for years, i was devastated. i wasn’t sure what to do with myself. i do shows every summer and i have since i was about 12 years old.
that night, i was scrolling on facebook and saw a virtual audition call for shrek, a musical i’ve always loved. even better, i saw that it was for perry players, a theater i’ve seen a few shows at and absolutely loved. i decided to send in an audition, despite how discouraged i felt.
the next week, i received an email saying i was in. i was ecstatic, even thought i was just ensemble. i was so excited to still be able to perform on stage.
i was nervous because i had never performed at this theater before. i didnt know anyone, and it felt like they all knew each other. however, as the show progressed, i grew closer to all of these amazing people.
this has been such an amazing learning experience for me. i am so glad i was able to do this show. these people have taught me so much about theater and friendships. i have made connections that will last me a lifetime.

a year ago

when i first entered high school, i was unsure. i had recently lost friends, gone through mental health turmoil, and was above all, anxious. that is, until i noticed how fun school was. the people in my classes, my teachers, school events, etc., all helped me gain my confidence back. slowly but surely, i started to fall in love with learning and the school environment again.

throughout my years at west laurens, i have gained so many amazing friendships and mentors. i realized what i was meant to be professionally and as a person. i cannot imagine what my life would be like without my girls or certain teachers.

while i cannot wait to go to college and peruse my dreams, i will certainly miss our competitive pep rallies, friday nights at the shu, chorus concerts, drama rehearsals and performances, lunch times with friends, those familiar warm faces in the halls, and so much more.

thank you, west laurens, for giving me the best 4 years of high school a girl could wish for. i can’t even begin to fathom how much different my life would have been without you all. i cannot wait to see what everyone does with their lives and what amazing things they do next. thank you all so much for the best high school experience ever. and remember,

i have no words. the day i’ve been dreading since my freshman year has finally come. my last chorus concert with this group ever. i genuinely can’t believe it. there have been so many tears cried over the loss of this amazing family of mine. while i will miss my choir oh so much, i will especially miss boat. the man who i’ve stood with all 4 years of my high school career. lord knows it’s been a rollercoaster, but i wouldn’t have it any other way. he has taught me everything i know, whether that be about life or music. he has been with me through the hardest times of my life, the lowest points in my life, and everything in between. i cannot express how grateful i am to him. i hope he knows how much i, and our whole choir, loves him. and as always, thank you to all of my friends and family and their endless support. i love yall so much. i hope the choir continues to thrive. i know you will all do amazing things. thank you so much for all of the amazing experiences we’ve had together. 💙🤍 taken in ♥ my heart ♥ by @gyasbell

and just like that, it’s over. my last show with the wlhs drama club has come to an end. i have always loved theater. it will forever be one of my biggest passions. i don’t know how in the world i got so lucky. not only am i surrounded by amazing people, but also amazing directors. without them, i would be completely lost. the sound of music holds such a special place in my heart. getting to preform in the stage musical is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. thank you to everyone who came to see us and everyone who has supported me throughout my whole theater career. i am so grateful to you all.
