I see gifting as a way to care for the people and communities that make life meaningful.

You might see them as "just dogs" or worse, but for me, it was an awakening of that part of my soul that I never thought would come alive.

I recall whispering into the universe that night. I came home early after work and a quick hangout, and went straight to my bed. Maa heard me murmur along the lines of "make some space, I'm getting two kids" a few hours into my slumber. She got worried that I knocked somebody up. We had some great laughs on this for weeks that followed.

I never knew what that meant until they happened. Maybe there's more. Who knows.

Some of us got lucky to have made their own children. Some of us are looking after the children we didn't make - siblings, fosters, step-children, parents, grand parents and wards alike. Then there are some of us who got honoured with trust and love from completely different species altogether - dogs, cats, cows, birds, and the list can go on. What a privilege to have in all the lifetimes, I think to myself, to communicate in a completely different way, to rebuild your life around them, to build a village that raises them right, to see time flow in faster.

To all the men and women filling the shoes of a father in their wards' lives, and to my old man and woman, Happy Father's Day. ✨

Dear Diary,

It's been almost a year and a half since this very moment.

We grew manifold.

We learned to want less, live more.

We learned to eat better from that less, make best use of it even more.

We learned to pause in places where time flew faster than light.

We welcomed strangers who wanted to play.

We bid adieu to friends who didn't want to stay.

We stopped chasing happiness.

We started being content without a stimulus.

We grew, only to make the best use of this currency called time that we have.

Here on out, we hope to do it better.
