i was not the first in my family to drop out of college, actually, i was the third. five years ago when i dropped out of my four-year institution, i was lost. grief, doubt, stress, and fear won. i knew nursing was my passion even then, so i soon enrolled in a CNA program. for a few years i worked in nursing homes, even becoming a part of the leadership team at one. as much as i loved loved loved the nursing home family, i knew hospital life was for me. in 2024, i started working in Vandy’s NICU and fell in love with the babies. watching the nurses at Vandy made me start thinking about going back to school. i was so scared but i contacted NSCC about their health sciences program and next thing i knew, i was enrolled. the past 2 years have been insane, i thought i was waiting for life to calm down before school. but one thing i learned during this time is that life never calms down, so you just have to get it done. i’m so proud to say i received my A.S. in health sciences on tuesday. and in the fall, i will be starting Belmont University’s Nursing Program with hopes to stay in Vandy Peds! by @gzbrxelle

what started as the worst year i thought i could ever experience quickly became one filled with so much love, light, & happiness. i learned to surround myself with people who put into me as much as i put into them. can’t wait to see what 2026 brings :) by @gzbrxelle
