New Year’s Resolution to read 10 books I own instead of just library books: book 5 is “Psych and Philosophy: Some Dark Juju-Magumbo”. I’m embarrassed to say I started this book in 2016, and it took me putting it on my Book Bingo card (that has a deadline) this year in order for me to finish it. Of course I picked this book up because it’s Psych, but I should have realized that I only “enjoyed” philosophy when I was in my 20s and I have really a difficult time reading essays. What was also a turn-off is that most of the first half of the essays talk about whether Shawn lying about being Psychic is morally justified, and it kinda gave me the ick, even tho most of the authors concluded he is morally justified. My favorite essay was probably the one comparing Shawn to a “Trickster” archetype, and I enjoyed each of their authors giving their own fake psychic predictions along with their mini bios at the end. I’m glad to finally remove this from my “currently reading” books on my reading tracker apps and add to my “finished” books; it’s been a long time coming 🍍💚 by @gzizzle13

New Year’s Resolution to read 10 books I own instead of just library books: book 4 is Michael Chabon’s The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. I’ve been putting off reading this for around 25 years. I read a few Michael Chabon books after I saw the movie “The Wonder Boys”, really enjoying the book that was based on and liking his first book as well. Something always held me back from reading this one, part of it was the length, but mostly it sounded a bit dark and I wasn’t sure I’d like it. Well, it won the Pulitzer Prize, and rightly so, it was very good. I just didn’t like it all that much because of all the sadness and depression - reading about people struggling is difficult for me. I had an instinct it wouldn’t be my cup of tea, and my instincts are usually pretty good on that front. Fortunately it fulfilled a book bingo square, and I am glad to have read it - I had to do it on audio, or else I knew it would have taken forever to do it visually, and I might have even given up. Anyway, read the description - if it sounds like the kind of story you’d be interested in, then I highly recommend it 😉 by @gzizzle13

It’s the 20th anniversary of the premiere of Psych, and this show has brought so much joy and silliness into my life. It was so heartwarming to hear about all the love the cast & crew has for each other, and to see it in action at the conventions. Sure, the show is over-the-top and has so much ridiculousness going on, but that’s part of what it makes it special and infinitely rewatchable for me 🍍💚 by @gzizzle13
