My lola (grandma) has just passed away.

It is hard to comprehend that someone who has been there for your entire childhood is no longer there.
I am grateful that after several years of not being able to visit my family in the Philippines, I finally did so last year, and got to hug, talk to and laugh with my grandmother before her health became too bad.

The next time I visit my family in the Philippines, I will sit in the bamboo hut, where you used to sit during the days and drink coffee, and when I see the wind blowing through the leaves of the coconut trees, I will think that it is your spirit moving past.
