Greece 2026. Some trips are vacations, and some become memories you carry with you forever. This trip was a gift to my daughter, Kyrsten, for graduating from nursing school, passing her boards, and beginning her career as a Registered Nurse in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Two years ago, she fell in love with Greece, especially Athens and Santorini, and she wanted to bring me back to experience it through her eyes. And that’s exactly what we did. We explored Athens and the Acropolis, wandered the streets of Santorini, rode ATVs around the island, visited Oia, Kamari Beach and Red Beach, sailed the Aegean on a sunset catamaran, ate incredible Greek food, laughed through a very unexpected beach massage, climbed what felt like a million stairs, and collected more memories than I could ever fit into photographs. But some of my favorite moments were watching Kyrsten connect with people everywhere we went. She wanted to know their stories, their families, their culture and their lives—and everywhere we went, people seemed to fall in love with her. Seeing old friends recognize her after two years, especially Katarina at Osmos, and watching those connections come back to life was something I’ll never forget.
As beautiful as Greece was, the best part wasn’t the sunsets, the blue domes, the beaches, or the food. It was experiencing all of it with HER, my daughter. Every night, exhausted from walking, climbing and exploring, we would lie in bed and talk about our day, laugh about the things that we saw and did, and talk about the people we met, and thank God for the opportunity to be there together. The trip may be over, the suitcases are unpacked, and thankfully the blisters have healed, but the memories will stay with me forever. I’ll always remember standing beside my daughter, looking out over the blue Aegean, and feeling so incredibly grateful that I got to see Greece through her eyes. Some places you visit. Some places you remember. And some places live in your heart forever. Greece will always be one of those places. @kyrstenpaphides by @h.d.l79
