bye pad! and big, not even just big, but huge thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and made this happen. but in particular my dearest laura-line, hafid, natalia, przemek, grzes, chris, and oskar who all stayed up late installing sconces, hanging globes, and assembling a 380kg cabinet among other things. to anna and chiara who made the impossible possible, to panos who can turn any idea into reality, to laureline who, despite being far from us this time, kept us going as if she’s right there. to my family and friends who i love so much and of course a massive thank you to my partners michal and joao <3

and of course i’d like to mention all of our artists whose work means so much but our relationship matters just as much. karolina ciecholewska, xawery wolski, angelika markul, wojtek jozefowicz, aleksandra zawistowska, william guillon, filomena smola, gabriel charbit, my inspiration natalia landowska, my pride and joy thibault philip, my long-time hero noe kuremoto, and my big brother hafid sdikiene. thank you for trusting us with your work and we’re so happy to represent it.

two years ago i went to soho revue to see an exhibition titled LUCKY STAR, LOVE YOU FOREVER. today, this exhibition means more than i could even put into words. it also makes sense why i kept coming back to it again and again and why it stands as one of the most profound works i’ve seen since. @chxntal, thank you for touching me and for creating work that has actually leaked into the ether for me. to an extent, it predicted my own future.

from the gallery’s statement:

An important reference and source of material for X.W. is Piccadilly (1929), starring Anna May Wong, a Chinese-American actor who presents herself through a depersonalised stardom, rather than authenticated fetish. Wong stars as Shosho, a scullery maid working in a Soho club, its owner hiring her to dance in the hope that her ‘novelty’ will draw in a much needed crowd. by @h.risto
