Wellโ€ฆ I guess itโ€™s time for a proper introduction :) Iโ€™m Lara โ€” hairstylist, salon owner and the person driving this little hair salon around whenever I get the chance. HAARVAN started as a slightly crazy idea to combine some of my favorite things: hair, road trips, surf culture and being outside. And somehow, that idea turned into this. A big thank you to @jibstercampers for turning an empty van into the tiny salon on wheels I had in my head. Couldnโ€™t have done this without you๐Ÿงก Still figuring out where HAARVAN will take me next โ€” but Iโ€™m very excited to find out. Haircuts in the wild, hair tips & the HAARVAN journey from here on out. by @haarvan_
It started with a little dream of owning a camperโ€ฆ Somewhere along the way, my scissors came with me and the Hairvan aka Haarvan slowly happened. ๐ŸŒž Haircuts, roadtrips and a lot of golden hours in between. ๐Ÿค by @haarvan_
As a little girl, I used to sit in the car and imagine it had everything I needed to live in it. Turns out, some dreams never really leave you๐Ÿ’› by @haarvan_
HAARVAN is officially hibernating for winter, so Iโ€™ve traded my bikini and camper for a warm salon for the next few months. ๐Ÿ‚ @toodaloo.nl was back in the Netherlands, together with her sweet little dog @iggypiertje , which meant I finally got my hands on her gorgeous curls again. And apparently, we also got the matching-outfit memo. :) Her hair gets a regular dose of sunshine and salt water, so it was ready for a little extra TLC. Sheโ€™s growing it out, so we only took a tiny bit off the ends. We kept the length, but added some soft layering to bring back the shape and let those beautiful curls move freely again. Ready for more sun, salt and sea. ๐Ÿงก soft layering to bring back the shape and let those beautiful curls move freely. by @haarvan_
Hair salon on wheels turned into a spa on wheels. ๐Ÿ˜‚ The weather was doing its absolute worst, so the face masks came out. We couldnโ€™t stop laughing every time we looked at each otherโ€ฆ but at least our skin was silky-soft afterwards. The only downside was being terrified of running into anyone on my way to the campsite toilet looking like I was a little early for Halloween. ๐ŸŽƒ by @haarvan_
A little peek inside my camperโ€ฆ and hair salon on wheels! ๐ŸŒž Before starting hairdressing school, I actually graduated in interior styling. I never thought I would use it again, but it came in pretty handy when my business partner and I created @haarvana together โ€” and later when I got to make this little van my own. :) Working on both spaces made me realise how much I still love turning an empty space into a place with its own personality. And soon Iโ€™m moving into a new place with lots of woodโ€ฆ so Iโ€™ll get to let that side of me loose all over again. :) Which little corner of the van is your favourite? ๐Ÿงก by @haarvan_
Somewhere between work and freedom. ๐Ÿงก by @haarvan_
Marel spends about half of her time on the other side of the world in New Zealand, is a massive Oasis fan andโ€ฆ hadnโ€™t exactly had the best luck with hairdressers. ๐Ÿ˜‚ After a pretty disastrous haircut a couple of years ago, sitting in the chair still felt a little scary. And since sheโ€™s growing her hair out, the main goal was definitely not to take off too much length. And obviouslyโ€ฆ this reel could only have an Oasis soundtrack. Especially now that somehow we managed to get tickets to see them together next summer. ๐Ÿฅน๐ŸŒž by @haarvan_
Last haircuts in the wild, slow van days, pastel skies, beach nights, friends, love, new music and apparently some very hungry rabbits. (Never leave your birkenstocks outside your camper.) HAARVAN season is slowly coming to an end, but thereโ€™s still one tiny October adventure leftโ€ฆ Then the van goes into hibernation for winter and youโ€™ll find me back at @haarvana ๐Ÿงก by @haarvan_
You know those rare mornings when you wake up and your curls somehow still look amazing? Yeahโ€ฆ most mornings are not like that. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Especially at the campsite with a few rain showers here and there, mine definitely needed a little reshaping. I actually donโ€™t mind a bit of frizz โ€” I quite like my curls a little messy. But when it rains, I try to keep especially the top of my hair from getting wet, because thatโ€™s usually where I lose all my volume. Luckily, most of the time I donโ€™t need to start all over again. A little water, a tiny bit of product and a few minutes with the diffuser usually does the trick. :) And weโ€™re back, baby! ๐ŸŒž Products used: @innersenseorganicbeauty I Create Lift foam + @kevin.murphy Bedroom spray by @haarvan_
Maartje might actually be one of our biggest HAARVAN(A) groupies ๐Ÿ˜‚ Sheโ€™s been a regular since the very beginning, sends basically everyone she knows to our salon and somehow even ended up spontaneously joining us on a little trip down southโ€ฆ obviously with a HAARVAN haircut included. The brief was simple: make her look like she walked straight out of the 80s. So we went all in with a big, shaggy wolfcut made for her natural texture. And honestlyโ€ฆ I think she was born for this hair. ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿผ by @haarvan_
