Here we are!
We have a few lovely faces missing, but this is the team tackling food poverty in Hackney. From welcoming our visitors, to managing donations and distributing food parcels, to fundraising, partnerships and events, and working closely with our amazing volunteers and keeping everything running day to day - we all play a part in supporting people through difficult times. Playdates aren’t something Tyler Munson can offer her two little girls.

Their one-bed temporary accommodation is in a pretty bad state, with black mould, drafty windows, holey flooring and a fridge that no longer works.

In fact, the building has been earmarked for demolition.

Tyler and her children Avery, 3 and Parker, 5 are living in real hardship – as are 64% of children in Hackney. The borough has the second highest level of child deprivation in England.

When it comes to having fun at our Supermarket Sweep, the HR team from @pernodricarduk didn’t hold back! Despite joining us in the middle of a heatwave, they brought plenty of energy to the day. From their rendition of ‘Total Eclipse of the Cart’ – which also won them the award for best team name – to going wild in the aisles of Tesco, they certainly brought the joy and vital donations for Hackney Foodbank!

We're delighted to be joined by the team at @tenantsadvice at our Food Distribution Centres this week and for the next two weeks. They will be speaking with our visitors about the conditions of their homes and offering advice on their housing rights.

At Hackney Foodbank, we regularly meet families facing hardship who are also living in unsuitable accommodation. Our caseworkers can help visitors access grants for essential furniture and white goods, helping them to create safer and more comfortable homes.

We're grateful to Tenants Advice for being here to listen, share advice and help our visitors understand their rights.💚

👀 Have you spotted these in Tesco recently?

Our pre-packed food donation bags are now available at @Tesco Morning Lane until 30th July! Each bag is filled with some of our most-needed items. If you can, please purchase a bag and drop your donations at the collection point after the checkouts. Each bag you donate will help make sure we can continue to support local people facing hardship in our community.💚

Hackney has the second highest level of deprivation among children in England. We regularly meet malnourished families living in unsuitable accommodation. Please donate if you can to help ensure we can continue providing emergency food and support to people facing hardship.

Meet our wonderful volunteer, Jackie.
Volunteering was on her retirement bucket list, and since joining Hackney Foodbank last November, she's got stuck into a range of volunteer roles – helping out on the Hackney Giving Van, in our food distribution centres, the warehouse and reception.

She told us the experience has opened her eyes to communities she'd lived alongside for decades, and that "everybody treats you like you've known them forever."

We're so grateful to @pipstantonart for raising an amazing £650 for Hackney Foodbank through the sale of her wonderful art! Following her recent exhibition at London Fields Lido, Pip has helped to provide the equivalent of 350 emergency meals for people facing hardship in Hackney. Huge thanks to the teams at @HSBC who recently swapped the office for the streets of London and took on a charity scavenger hunt to raise vital funds for Hackney Foodbank! 🕵️‍♀️

Split into four teams, they had just three hours to complete as many challenges as possible, racing between landmarks across central London, carrying out surprise acts of kindness and even squeezing in some questionable singing along the way. Together, they raised an incredible £900 – the equivalent of 484 emergency meals for local people facing hardship.
