We’re excited to announce Hack The Hood’s partnership with Admit for the upcoming Drive: Laney program cycle.

In Summer 2024, our learners participated in an early Admit pilot, sharing what it was like to navigate college, careers, scholarships, internships, and life after high school. Their feedback directly influenced Admit’s design, language, and features. Now, we’re bringing that collaboration into Drive.

Learners will use Admit alongside Hack The Hood’s existing support to set goals, track milestones, discover scholarships and internships, and stay connected to opportunities throughout their college and career journey.

Here’s to helping our learners find their lane and drive their careers forward. 💻🚀

Join us in welcoming Jabari Alii, our Director of Programs and Partnerships.

Jabari is a developer, educator, creative technologist, and community leader.

An Oakland native, Jabari’s path into tech has been anything but conventional. With a foundation in music and education, he grew into game development, sound design, project management, and technology, working with organizations including Meta, Skydance, and The Hidden Genius Project.

Throughout his career, Jabari has created opportunities for young people to see technology not simply as an industry to enter, but as a tool to tell stories, build things, solve problems, and shape their communities.

We’re excited to have Jabari on the team and look forward to the experience and perspective he brings to our work. by @hackthehood

We're honored to share that Hack the Hood is one of the beneficiaries of the Golden State Valkyries Free Throws For Futures program, which has raised $314,000 (and counting) this season through the Golden State Community Foundation.

Presented by the @pacificgasandelectric Corporation Foundation, Free Throws For Futures turns every @valkyries free throw into a $500 donation supporting education-focused nonprofits in Alameda and San Francisco counties.

For Hack the Hood, this support helps fuel our work providing free tech programs where young people build coding and AI skills, create tech solutions for their communities, and prepare to launch careers in tech.

Every free throw made this season helped create new opportunities for underestimated youth in our community.

We’re deeply grateful to the Golden State Valkyries, PG&E Corporation Foundation, and Golden State Community Foundation for investing in this work.

Let’s go, Valkyries! 💜🖤🏀 by @hackthehood

Did you catch our Executive Director on @abcnews?!

Samia Zuber joined the newscast on Friday to discuss Hack the Hood’s mission and our upcoming fall programs, including Build and Build.AI - initiatives focused on equipping young people with the technical skills, AI fluency, and confidence they need to shape the future of technology.

At Hack the Hood, we believe access to technology education is not simply about preparing young people for jobs. It’s about ensuring they have the opportunity to create, lead, and influence the technologies that are transforming our communities and our economy.

As AI continues to reshape the workforce, expanding access to meaningful, hands-on learning has never been more important.

We’re excited to continue building pathways for young people to move from technology consumers to technology creators and leaders.

Thank you to ABC News for helping elevate this important conversation.

Sri Kamarthapu, a high school senior and recent graduate of Hack the Hood’s 12-week BUILD.AI program, describes his experience as “genuinely life-changing.”

Through BUILD.AI, Sri strengthened his technical skills, built meaningful connections, and gained exposure to opportunities across the tech community. Now, he’s taking what he learned back to his school, with plans to launch an AI & Tech Club and help more students discover what’s possible in technology.

His story is what BUILD.AI is all about: equipping young people with the skills, community, and confidence to build what comes next.

🌱 Applications for Fall 2026 BUILD.AI are now open. Link in the Bio by @hackthehood
