Exactly one month ago on May 11, I produced my very first 54 Below show celebrating the music of Carole King!

Getting to put together this night, performing these songs, and sharing the story of my absolute favorite artist (Carole) was such a crazy and amazing experience, and I’m so grateful for all the wonderful people - musicians, singers, and friends - who took part in bringing this vision to life 💙

On this day 9 years ago - May 26, 2017…. I released my debut EP, “GOLD”!

Gold featured 4 original tracks that encompassed a phrase I saw written on a wall in an NYC cafe - “turn your heartaches into gold”. Fun fact, I once opened for @mikesternguitar and when I played the single off the EP, “Upper Hand”, Mike joined me on stage and played along ! (Swipe to last pic)

This business-plan/passion-project was an independent endeavor, where I recorded, distributed, signed up for copyrights, released, and marketed (including a release show) the record all by myself (no label / management) all within 3 weeks (!!)

I did have help along the way, including @renniepincus who played on the record, @annalavi who helped with graphic design for the artwork, @michaelpachecophoto who took the photos for the artwork, as well as many other great friends who chipped in to help bring my vision to life.

Cannot believe it’s been 9 years…might be time for some new music 👀

Only 2 more days until we hit @54below! Swipe for a sneak peek 👀

The concept for “54 Sings Carole King” came after I wrapped playing Carole in “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” - and wanted to continue not just singing her songs, but spreading the beautiful catalog of music she wrote. Carole wrote songs you know & love performed by other artists (Aretha Franklin, The Shirelles, The Beatles, The Drifters, and so many more), as well as the hits she came to be known for as an artist herself.

Monday’s show will be a journey through Carole’s catalog, plus some tunes from her friends in the Brill building. Our cast & band are so talented and I’m so excited to be sharing this all with everyone in just a few days.

Final tickets are available thru 54 Below (or DM me) - can’t wait to see you there 💛 taken in 54 Below by @hadarbaron
