In the beginning, God lifted the world out of chaos. The Torah paints a dramatic scene. A wasteland. A darkness covering the surface of the “tehom”, the great depths.

A story in the Talmud imagines King David digging deep into the core of the earth, while preparing the foundations for the Beit HaMikdash (The Temple), attempting to reach the depths of the “tehom”. Instead, the Talmud tells us, he finds a clay teapot.

What happens next? Find out in R. Avi Strausberg’s Dvar Torah for Bereshit, available through the link in our Story or via itl.ink/Teapot .
