I finished my biggest basket yet, a version of Lyn Siler’s Sold Bottom Shaker Basket. I’m thinking I’ll use it to store clothes I’ve worn but don’t need to wash yet. I’ll work on a smaller basket soon to keep slippers away from the dog, but this is way too large for that. I’m not anywhere near ready to make things to sell, but I’ll probably start giving things to willing friends soon at least. by @hagesichora

Here’s my curvaceous shaggy Shaker basket that needs to sit overnight before I can put a rim on it (but that means I won’t put handles on it because I don’t have appropriate handles and I *think* I’m okay with that) and then I truly do need to get minwax to start dipping/spraying/painting them to be a little healthier and more long-lasting. by @hagesichora

I made one more basket Sunday and Monday, about 9x12 inches and 2.75 inches tall, though it should have been a little smaller in all directions based on my original plan. This is some 1/2-inch flat reed I got in the giant box of reed that offers some really good stuff and some really scraggly stuff like this. Since I was making it to go into a drawer, I figured ugly but functional was fine. I’m actually very happy with it, though, and it does fit in the drawer and now I have to make more little functional rectangular guys for other things, I think! by @hagesichora

I made this whole basket yesterday with no 2 round reed (1.75 mm diameter) and now I have a container for my basic basketry tools. The photo is wonky because today’s a wonky day and I had no energy to focus; the basket’s shape is surprisingly nice! by @hagesichora

Today’s not-yet basket is kind of a tale of two cities. I definitely failed at making a big round cat head basket because it’s a little round but not very and to make that work I’d need the thicker, sturdier gray-blue reed to be the stakes and the thinner, supple, leathery brown smoked reed to be my weavers. The good news is that I have enough to try that too! But the even better news is that I adore how this looks and I’ll keep working with it to turn it into something (and maybe not even something taller than it should be like I keep always doing?? We’ll see.) by @hagesichora
