The original inspiration that sparked the skate film THRASHIN’ wasn’t just a script idea—it was a real-life, legendary 1980’s all-girl, L.A. punk skate crew called THE HAGS. 🛹💥 #TheHagsDocumentary 🎬⚡ #Thrashin #AlanSacks #FlowOrGoHome #skatelikeagirl #80slife4ever @dogsrulela_sevie @kerens_hair661 @nancy_sefton @punkandinlove @saraannphoto @kim.h.neel taken in Los Angeles, California by @hagsoriginal

In 1984 producer Alan Sacks approached the HAGS about making a movie based on our all-girl punk skateboard gang. He’d read an article about the HAGS in the LA Weekly. So, he started following us around to skate spots and punk clubs to get a “feel” for what we were doing. Next thing we knew there was a script titled “Skate Or Die”, BUT the main characters were guys, not female skaters like us. At first they gave us small parts, but those quickly disappeared, and then the title was changed to “Thrashin’”. We were little more than extras in the movie Alan Sacks said we inspired. Now it’s the 40th anniversary of Thrashin’, and @80slife4ever is hosting a huge celebration on 8/29 at the @skateboardinghalloffame. Come on down and see the HAGS — the real-life inspiration for The Daggers!
