So this is me

@hagspottery Teaching a range of ceramics classes to adults and children in my garden studio @childrensartschool while learning and experimenting with this incredible art form. I have recently completed my ceramics diploma (2025). I combine this with my work as artist educator as part of the @courtauld learning team.
To combine all my loves is the ultimate aim - Art History, research, making and experimenting, museums and teaching whilst caring for my home and family, sharing with my friends through cooking (making tableware) growing plants (to put in the many pots!) and walking the dog for inspiration, (looking) and learning (podcasts). Each aspect of my life and work feeds each other in a (sometimes) beautiful cyclical relationship.

It’s tiring, physical work, I lose my way often and question my sanity and purpose periodically. I’m certainly not making my fortune just yet, but it totally absorbs me. I love it and I love sharing it with you.

If you are interested in joining any of my classes please see the links in my bio and please ask if there is something you would like to do (perfectly formed groups of 4 are ideal for a class or workshop)

After school club- please enquire and share!

Dancing Angels
Ceramics Diploma
A Trio in Conversation

For the final project of my Ceramics Diploma at West Dean College, I set out to create a set of three vessels - a triptych that tells my story. It’s been quite the journey, full of experimentation, discovery, doubt, and delight.

As I’m about to hand in my final essay for my #CeramicDiploma @westdeancollege I thought i’d share my thinking as part of my new blog.

These pieces will be in the final diploma show opening at West Dean on the 2nd June

People often ask me “Why Hags Pottery?”

They seemed surprised that I would choose such a name - for a positive creative venture at this stage in my life…. the more I explored the idea, the more it resonated with me. ..

5 days of total emersion in clay @clayyorkshire with @james_oughtibridge and @rebeccaappleby7 incorporating a visit to @yspsculpture
These pieces made it back to London for firing and taking to the next stage. My brain is swimming with possibilities of where to go next and how to translate my experiences in landscape into this concrete form.

What a wonderful group of ceramic artists I met. It’s as much about the people you meet, the shared pursuit and the conversations you have along the way. Thank you everyone ❤️

Yesterday’s office.
What a beautiful way to spend the day exploring and drawing around the @wattsgallery cemetery chapel with schoolchildren in preparation for a terracotta tile making project.

This little porcelain piece will be on show as part of #wimbledonarttrail26 @commonworksgallery

Counting the days now until Sat and Sun when my home and studio will be open to the public

My latest work explores rejuvenating feelings experienced when walking and swimming in remote locations in all seasons.

I have been making small, fast paintings after walking or swimming in different weathers which are starting to intuitively translate into my ceramics and glazes.

This is an example of when what i want to happen, just happens!

If you’d like to talk to me about my work, come and see me in my working studio, complete with sketchbooks, photographs and work in progress.

I will also display my work in the house and garden alongside paintings by @zoe.navarre and @d.m_marchant who are also showing at venue 8

You can also find out about the classes and workshops I offer and about my work as an Artist Educator with many London galleries and museums @courtauld @pitzhanger @wattsgallery

There are plenty of other artists showing nearby and the @cannizaro.park @cannizaro_studios are only a short walk away through the beautiful Holland Gardens.

Such a lovely local day out!

Be great to see you! ❤️ by @hagspottery
