We came to Italy at the beginning of our marriage when I taught in Cortana, Italy before I had a real teaching job. It was before iPhones, we didn’t have Internet access then, and we spent a lot of time in churches, looking at art and enjoying eating. We had our first truffle tagliatelle pasta and David would cook dinner using the amazing local ingredients. It was lovely coming back here with him to celebrate this time in our life and also to go back to Cortana for a weekend and reminisce. taken in Florence, Italy by @hahaworks

Alfredo Jaar’s text labels from his artwork called, The End of the World, at the Venice Biennale. It was a deeply affecting space with a pressed 4 centimeter square cube with 10 critical minerals that emphasize the harm of mineral extraction.
The minerals above are part of the materials we regularly in the ceramics community for glazes and prices have been soaring. They say knowledge is power, in this case the chase for extraction is scary. by @hahaworks

May and June have been filled with a lot of travel and cultural shifts, from Red Lodge, MT to Florence, Italy. Even the students I'm working with are night and day different.
In MT, it was cool and snowed, whereas in Florence, it's been hovering around 98 degrees.
The students in MT were introspective, thoughtful and presented as other, figuring out their place in life through their art. In the study abroad program, the values reflect a more value driven normative middle and upper-class affluence.

Made this as an ode to Ron Meyers, one of my mentors as I mentor others here at Red Lodge Clay Center. It’s also about our dog, CeCe who sadly killed “Spot” a neighborhood chicken who flew the coop and landed in our other neighbors yard where CeCe was taking a siesta. by @hahaworks

I love teaching and working with other artists. It feels collaborative and intellectually inspiring. This group at Red Lodge of ASPN artists are thoughtful, smart and kind. Each sings a great song. So lucky to be with them. This second image was right after Covid 5 years ago. I was reminded of another great group of BFA and MFA students at FSU.
