Naoshima & Teshima Brutalist architecture, high-speed ferries, James Turrell, uphill bike rides feeling muscles in my thighs I’ve never felt. Movie star Lauren in her red shirt and big sunglasses. We ate until we were too full for dessert, stepped into the color pink, crawled into the shell of an egg and looked up at the sky. I felt the earth breathe with my hands under that concrete. I know I’ll close my eyes and look for that feeling in moments of chaos. I wish it wasn’t so inaccessible to see something so unforgettable. Grateful forever and always I got to see it with you. by @hahna.yo

American childhoodI found these photos cleaning out my things from my mom’s. Rummaging through Toys R Us, birthday party at Chuck E Cheese, weekend trip to D.C. I got so excited for my first ballet recital, I invited everyone I knew. A banner behind us read: Celebration For Cultural Diversity. My mom said she wanted me to grow up here where my differences would be seen as strengths. by @hahna.yo

The first time I went to Busan, it was at 8pm on a Busan Film Festival weekend with three friends. We took a KTX, drank beers on Gwangalli until the sun came up and watched one movie before returning to Seoul. I didn’t know then that I would end up going back so many times. Writing this, I felt a wave of nostalgia for all the friends I ever went to Busan with, the people I met there and the early days with Will— in his small, hilltop apartment where we sometimes had dinner on the roof. 16 years into the future felt so faraway then, but it was just a train ride away. 🤍 by @hahna.yo

10 years together ❤️ two years marriedI was the girl who only loved the beginnings, skeptical of the phrase “falling more in love.” I just didn’t believe that anything could be better than the flirting and flutters. I didn’t think someone like me— difficult, anxious and analytical— was capable of love that was also stable and strong. I didn’t imagine that someone other than my mom could feel like family. I’m finally understanding why people used to tell me “it’ll be better when it’s real.”Second to last photo is from our last anniversary when Will brought a few hundred flowers home. Am I the luckiest or what? Here’s looking at you (and Hodu)! 🫶 by @hahna.yo

After ten years of saying I would, I finally took my mom to Germany. We traveled from Munich to Prague to Berlin by train and had a 21-hour layover in Zurich before coming back home. As it often is with mothers, it was as tense and stressful as it was meaningful. She delighted at the views from our carriage, excitedly used her limited German and had what she called the best restaurant coffee of her life at our last brunch. She wanted to visit churches and libraries instead of cute cafes and boutique shops, and saw things in a different light than I did. I can’t say it was easy, but I’m glad we got to share the time between her birthday and mine. by @hahna.yo

Our one year anniversary! Before we got married, I never thought I could be in a happy marriage. It’s hard to say I’m happy, it’s hard to admit that I actually feel so lucky— that after a lifetime of running, I’m finally slowing down and it’s not boring. I can’t believe my husband is this person who is so handsome and kind and intelligent (and some say very funny!). Someone who makes me feel more deeply loved than I could have ever imagined. It feels like it’ll all disappear if I say it aloud. So if it all vanishes someday, I want to remember these moments: from the blurry wedding scenes of sweating, dancing and singing to the mundane everyday, taking Hodu for walks in the park, having gummy bears and re-watching The Office. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us—Thank you to the talented @nathanrivers for most of these photos & all these videos! (DM me for a full video link!) And most of all, to Will for this unfamiliar feeling. Let’s be happy for a long time. ❤️ by @hahna.yo

Goodbye 성산동— For me, it was the first house that truly felt like a home. We filled it with countless dinner parties, a little jungle, lots of attic guests and so many minute moments no one else will ever know. It’s where we started fresh again, got through covid and started our lives as husband and wife. Will organized our humble library, I got into baking and Hodu finally found his look (nice haircuts). I felt safe here and I’m so sad to let it go, but it already feels like it’s gone. 🤍 Thank you for all the happy years! by @hahna.yo
