Episode 16 of Playing Tourist in My Hometown! 🇩🇪🍻🥨 I grew up in @fredericksburgtexas …and one of the best times to experience the German heritage that makes our town so special is @oktoberfestfredericksburg! This episode takes us to Fredericksburg Oktoberfest for three days of German music, dancing, food, shopping, family fun, and so much Texas sized German spirit! Did you know Oktoberfest actually began more than 200 years ago in Munich, Germany, as a celebration for a royal wedding?This celebration eventually became the world famous @oktoberfest tradition we know today and Fredericksburg has been putting its own Texas twist on the celebration for more than 40 years. One of my favorite parts of Oktoberfest is getting to DRESS UP! Seeing everyone from little kids to adults dressed in traditional German clothing is such a fun and beautiful way to celebrate Fredericksburg’s German roots. Both of my outfits this year came from @kuckucksnesttx owned by @paulakager right here in Fredericksburg! They carry authentic German clothing, accessories, steins, gifts, and so much more. Be sure to stop by their booth at Oktoberfest or visit their store while you’re in town! Between the German food, live music, polka dancing, artisan vendors, contests, and all of the incredible outfits, there is something for everyone at Oktoberfest.
