After successful electrolysis, the hair follicles that were effectively treated can never grow hair again. But there is an important caveat. Many people with unwanted facial hair often have a mix of darker (but sometimes white) thick coarse terminal hairs AND soft lighter peach-fuzzy vellus hairs. Permanently destroying the follicles that grow the thick annoying terminal hairs is usually the primary goal of an Electrolysis Journey. When you take or use treatments that are designed to grow head hair, they typically work on the bloodstream level (even topicals). Sometimes hair follicles that were never targeted during electrolysis, such as dormant hair follicles (never grew a hair, just hanging out) and the follicles with soft vellus hair, can be supercharged by hair growth treatments. Through the bloodstream, the follicles could be nourished, stimulated to grow coarse dark hair or to convert vellus hair to thick terminal hair.

At NuYou, we have witnessed this happen to some clients who have used Minoxidil and Nutrafol to treat head hair Alopecia. Those treatments can be very effective at doing what they do. So, please be careful. This does not happen with everyone. But a low risk warning of "hair growth in other areas " is a big deal when it happens to you. This can also occur as the body fluctuates through natural or induced hormonal shifts.

If this happens, we always support our clients with whatever they decide to do to address a new hair growth situation.

It took 1 year of commitment and consistency to our customized care! Electrolysis is THE ANSWER. We did a combination of Thermolysis and Blend from March 2024 to June 2024. THEN we switched to 16-Probe Galvanic Electrolysis from June 2024 to Dec 2024. She followed our instructions To-A-Tee, kept all 28, 1-hr appointments, and kept up with a simple skin care regimen. Expanding her family in 2025 brought about hormonal changes. This was the true test of our work. A scattering of thin hairs popped up here and there. Nothing that a quick GEMM-16 Multi-Probe Electrolysis session couldn't handle! We saw her 5 times in 2025. THIS is what a permanent solution to an unwanted hair problem looks like! (we've now moved on to a new area 😁)
