📍 Tunisia

Final reel of our all our highlights on Tunisia before moving onto the London food scene that captures everything in one.

🇹🇳 Tunis
A visit to Medina Bazaar is a must, has Turkeys grand bazaar vibes. At the end of the bazaar there is a small restaurant that does delicious mixed grill. Next to that is Zaytouna Mosque, host to one of the greatest Islamic universities.

Also Loc2 has great vibes with restaurants and shisha bars. We went to @fredericcasseltunis and got the lamb shoulder, so good.

🇹🇳 Sidi Bou Said
A must, similarly to Santorini with his blue and white settings throughout and excellent views of the Mediterranean. The shawarma flatbread and sweet biegnet there is excellent.

🇹🇳 Hammamet
A visit to the Broadway and Marina is a must with restaurants, shops and shisha bars. We spent most of the evening in Marina Le Cap for shisha. The steak in cheese steak restaurant in the Broadway was really good. Mint tea is a must also.

🇹🇳 Sousse
The Ribat fort is a must, just to go up the steep tower and see the amazing views of the city. There is also a beach in the city and they have the only Burger King at the mall.

🇹🇳 Kairoun
The Uqba mosque built 1400 years ago by the general of Umar Ibn Kattab (RA), Uqba Ibn Nafi. This is where Islam first came into North Africa and considered one of the greatest city in Islam. There is a restaurant next to the mosque @elbrija_restaurant that does some amazing food.

🇹🇳 El Jem
The Amphitheater built by the romans and third largest behind the Colosseum in Rome. A sight to behold and worth a visit.

📍 Milan | Is travelling to Milan to buy a designer bag cheaper than London?

SoloRoss having reluctantly agreed to buy the wife a designer bag for her birthday and searching the net for any sales (apparently these things do not go on sale lol), wife saw some Ryanair flights to Milan for a bargain £12 return from Stansted airport. A early morning flight later, we are in Milan with a negative COVID test (£11) on hand, which was not even checked 🙄.

Thankfully the weather was sunny in Milan and we saw some beautiful sights as well as trying some tasty macaroons from Rinaldini and gelato from Amorino. A must in Milan, the best gelato we had.

We paid £20 to go up the cathedral which had stunning breathtaking views, though there were a lot of steps to go up to the top and back. Opposite the cathedral was the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a shopping gallery and a major landmark of Milan, full of high end designer places.

Wife wanted a particular bag and luckily she found it. UK residents can claim the tax back in Italy on purchases now, so saved close to £200 in total compared to buying the same one in London. They check the passport and complete a tax free form at the shop and had to validate this at the airport with the receipt and the bag.

So minus the saving with the travel to Milan, we still had plenty of change left over. Certainly a very productive bargain with the added bonus of a trip to Milan.

Tucked away in Enfield, North London is Crews Hill Pumpkin Patch Farm. It’s a great day out with the family playing with pumpkins, taking photos, meeting scarecrows and having hot chocolate and for under £5 entry it’s an affordable day out. There is also a big free parking area too. Perfect for the upcoming school holidays.

Check out this cute cake shed full of treats. You simply open, buy the treats from brownies to milk cakes, pay and close the door and leave. The cakes were very good too.

We recently visited Frankie’s Cafe in Colindale, North London. This family run spot does both English and Turkish brunch.

What made this spot stand out for was the fantastic service, customers were greeted with warm friendly staff. The cafe is family run and it felt like home from home. Secondly, the portions were huge from the Turkish Breakfast to the Huge French Toast with candy floss providing good value for money.

On show is the Turkish Breakfast, Menemen with Toasted Bread, Hummus and Avocado Sourdough bread with poached eggs and Lotus French Toast.

The Turkish Breakfast was stacked with fruits, sausages, cheese, cream , eggs, honey, bread and even a chocolate star as a treat. The wife really enjoyed the Menemen with tomatoes, mixed peppers and egg, it’s something different to the Shakshuka. My favourite was the French Toast, it come with three breads and leathered with Biscoff sauce with candy floss and honey and even a heart shaped chocolate cake on the side.

We recently visited Hotville in Uxbridge, London. A new halal Nashville spot on the high street and they are doing 30% off offer on Uber Eats perfect for anyone going to school or university this Autumn.

With a 4.8 google rating, what made this place stand out is how hot the chicken were, it was crispy, spicy and with that distinctly smoky sweetness to it with that rich oily finish. Spice levels can be moderated but would recommend the spicy level to get that full flavour experience.

My favourite was the Hotville Burger with slaw and the generously big tenders, which goes very well with hot honey and ranch sauce. There is also a Waffle Stack, which gives it a sweet taste against the chicken.

They also do loaded fries, which comes with Mac & cheese and Nashville chicken alongside Mozzarella Melt with the cheese just never ending.

We recently visited Indigo, one of my favourite Indian street food spot in Liverpool Street. There is a restaurant in Liverpool Street hidden towards the tail end of the station on the ground floor. The restaurant is spacious, modern with fresh food on display.

We tried my favourite Papdi Chaat and Punjabi Samosa Chaat, soft, crunchy and sweet, so good. They also have Onion Bhajis and Punjabi Samosas.

There is also curry options and on show so the Butter Chicken and Railway Lamb, which either comes with rice or grains. The Railway Lamb in particular was very impressive, tender lamb with Roasted Coconut and Curry Leaves.

There is also Biryanis and Desi Tandoori Chicken on a bed of rice alongside build your own thali options, where you can chose Pilau Rice or grains and curries with sides. There is plentiful of vegetables options too.

Most of their dishes is priced at £13 or below and comes with both main and sides. They have traditional hot and cold drinks too like lassi and chai.

Belgique, a popular brunch spot in Wanstead, East London that have been opened for years is halal. I went there long time ago when I think it was not halal but there is new owners since then and everything on the menu is now halal.

Know for their pattiseries, they also have many halal options like English Breakfast, burgers, salted Wagyu beef, pastas and quesadillas.

There is outside seating area adjacent to the park, which is a nice way to relax and enjoy the food.

Milk & Egg, one of my favourite cafe in West London, we covered their brunch options recently and now they have a new evening menu with some of their standout items.

The Chicken Benedict was excellent, chicken sandwiched between freshly made waffles with perfect eggs layered on top, soo good. They also have a Fried Chicken version with hot honey and chipotle sauce.

There is dessert options, my favourite being the superb Tiramisu French Toast with Espresso and lady fingers on top, if you love coffee then you will love this.

There is hot and cold drink options from Spanish Latte, Mocktails to Tiramisu Match.

We recently visited La Dolce, a beautiful halal Italian restaurant that serves Italian options throughout the day from Breakfast, Lunch to Dinner.

We tried some of their sweet brunch options like Pancakes and Croffles. They also do English Breakfast.

There is a lunch menu with a range of pasta options like Chicken Carbonara and Chicken Milanese, which went down well with the kids.

There is an evening menu too with a range of options from starters, mains and desserts.

We went as a family and found the restaurant to be family friendly, it was spacious, food came quick and was enjoyable.
