I’ve always felt like an old soul who was born in the wrong century. My heart yearns for a time past that I heard echoes of in my Tutu Annie’s stories growing up in her hale in Ka‘u. Is there is a word for the type of longing you have for things and places that no longer are? Because that’s what I have. I want to sew lei and mu’u. Grow healthy mea ‘ai for my ‘ohana. Sing old mele that haven’t been sung for decades. Learn at the feet of kūpuna. Honor our beloved ali’i. But maybe I wasn’t born in the wrong era, but I exist here and now to keep the old ways alive. Hopefully I am not the only one. Because the more of us who want to keep doing things in the real old style, the better chance they have of surviving. 🤍shauna by @halepuahawaii

Sending aloha 🫶🏽 to ALL the vendors who worked hard and showed up for MIH. I have never been to MIH as a vendor or a shopper. My post was not meant to shade anyone who was there with goods made overseas. We are all working hard to support our families. Let’s encourage and support each other, no matter where our goods are made. shauna🖤 by @halepuahawaii
Pāpale are 40% off with code PAPALE40 as part of our 🎄(Early) Kalikimaka Sale 🎄 Preorders to ship by Dec 10 and will CLOSE on Sept 1. These pāpale were the start of Hale Pua. The ONE product I launched with the last of my savings and a pule. Six years later, Hale Pua is still thriving. It sustained our ‘ohana through some tough times. For a few reasons, I stopped selling hats. But I’m bringing them back for a limited preorder release. Mostly for those who email and message me begging me to offer them again. They are handmade of Lafite straw, a sustainable Lauhala alternative fiber. Mahalo to those of you who have followed, supported, liked, and purchased from my small biz. shauna🖤 📷 @crystalgphoto by @halepuahawaii

Wishing all my friends who have booths (and ALL the vendors!) a wonderful weekend!! I dream of being there someday with some of the things that I am conjuring up. Maybe. If I can just setup and peek around a corner to watch haha. I’m going incognito to shop and support you all and start my own Christmas shopping. Can’t wait to shop all the new goodies I’m seeing sneak peeks of online! 💜shauna by @halepuahawaii
nothing can replace human creativity. there is no shortcut to dipping your brush into a paint and laying it on a canvas. there is no replicating shadows playing with natural sunlight. sipping on steaming cup of tea is a purely human experience. it’s real. and I make these paint kits for you in hopes that you will want to recreate this moment for yourself. (maybe minus the barking dog and yard man mowing!) 😊 my promise to you: i will never use AI to make our videos and photos. love 🌺Shauna by @halepuahawaii
