Hello! I am happy to announce that the pet distribution system has come knocking and we have opened our door and hearts to this sweet pupper. Please enjoy some pictures of our newest family member, Mirin. 💛

In a sense, Mirin decided to adopt us last month. My friend, Haley, came to pick me up to go see the musical The Outsiders. Mirin followed her car all the way from the entrance of the neighborhood all the way to the back where our house is. Haley parked, Mirin sauntered off to the nearby woods and Haley came inside the house to hang out with me. I'm pumped because I knew I was in for an excellent day with excellent company. Little did I know what an important day it would end up being.

We went to leave for the show and much to our surprise, there was Mirin right by Haley's car. Sitting sweetly and waiting eagerly for us to approach. As soon we went in for pets she immediately flopped over with her belly up. Time to investigate 🕵️‍♀️

It didn't take long before we noticed she had no collar, was rail thin, and not groomed. At this point I need my husband because I am concerned we have a lost dog on our hands. And we need to leave for the show. Lucky me I have an amazing husband that comes out after I am frantically alerting him to this predicament and he immediately takes action. Nik gives me the peace of mind I need to go to the show knowing the dog is safe and in good hands. Nik puts so much care into getting her the medical attention she needs, buying supplies, and making our home a refuge while we search for owners. No one came forward which is fine by me.

I find serendipity in the fact that Mirin happens to have these beautiful gold eyes. And that she happened to find us the same day I happened to see The Outsiders-- a story that reminds us that we shine brightest when we resolve to stay true to who we are and what we value, despite external pressures to conform. I am reminded I want to be that person who leads with kindness and willingness to help others that need us in the way Mirin needed us that day. And I'm never alone. I am lucky I can surround myself with amazing people who inspire me to keep going and keep growing. Stay Gold, folks 💛 by @halesyeah94

Visiting Alaska always has a special place in my heart. Nik and I had some adventures including horseback riding, kayaking, visiting Denali, and soaking in some hot springs. Oh and we saw a moose! by @halesyeah94
