Finding a moment of flow wearing the amazing art of @creatrixshauna.

I don’t think the phrase “art inspires art” held a lot of meaning for me before I found my own foothold in this community, but now I feel inspired all the time. Art is everywhere and can be anything, and the contribution of your expression is so meaningful. Yesterday I felt pretty bad and missed out on a bunch of stuff I had been looking forward to all month. So today when I woke up feeling better I got myself all dressed up and went outside to flow. And it was everything I needed 🔥

Happy 2 year poi-iversary to me!!

Truth be told, I’ve been really overthinking this post - worried whatever I shared wouldn’t be a sufficient display of my progress. But then I found this note I wrote myself awhile ago:

“It is so easy to lose yourself in your admiration for others. But your individuality is what draws people to you and your expression is worth cultivating.

Resist the compulsion to capture every moment. To prove your progress outwardly. The journey is the whole point, you have never really arrived.”

The reality is that no clip will ever look as good as the flow feels. It’s a shallow representation of the entire story - all the hours spent turning impossible movements into second nature, all the decisions and tradeoffs made in practice, and the payoff of moments where the world quieted and you felt in perfect sync with the music and like your poi were truly extensions of yourself.

So grateful for flow and all it’s taught me. So grateful for this community and everyone who’s cheered me on, created space, and helped me grow. So grateful I have a lifetime to keep practice and enabling my self expression.
