“in” for 2024: being honest about doing IVF.

we’d been trying for baby #2 since mid-2020: what followed was 3+ years of secondary infertility and treatment, including 3 IUIs, 4 egg retrievals, 1 miscarriage, 1 termination, 1 ectopic, 2 clinics in 2 states—basically, it was heartbreak and devastation with the constant underlying fear that we may never give our son a sibling.

but now, at the top of our fourth calendar year of trying to conceive, with guarded hearts 💕 and a higher level of anxiety than usual (even for me 🙃), @sethgutt and I are excited to share that I’m pregnant with our triple rainbow 🌈🌈🌈, a baby girl due in may.

this embryo was frozen at @universityreproductive and transferred by @alexroblesmd @columbiauniversityfertility in a cycle monitored by my top-choice doctor, @ericformanmd—yeah, sometimes ~making~ a baby takes a village too.

flying across the country to vegas and seeing BSB at sphere was for current me as a geriatric millennial mom and former me as a teeny bopper. i literally saw my 12-year-old self in the mirror once the butterfly clips were in, and i cried hearing the songs live for the first time since 1999 that for sure shaped me and my career trajectory. i love this for me (and love my mom friends who joined in) taken in Sphere by @haleyb221

happy 2️⃣ birthday to our laynie bug 🐞, whose hobbies include walking around the house wheeling her baby stroller, patting her daycare friends to sleep before naptime, and spotting and petting any dog (and baby) she can find literally anywhere.

happy 8️⃣ to jesse david, a true mix of his parents who loves WWE, NBA, gaming, sports, and boy bands.

watching him grow this year from little kid to big kid who like, reads real novels 📕 and got a “67” haircut 💇🏻 has been a reallllll trip. and watching him dote on his little sister continues to be my favorite thing ever (that and watching high school marathons together).

our boy is 7️⃣ and it’s absolutely nuts 🥹

jesse is a big kid now who loves WWE, video games, legos, drawing, STEM, and chess, but most of all, he loves his little sister. he’s the best big brother and first grader, and this year has been transformative for him (and for us) in so many ways.
