Hidden Treasures 🗝️

I’m so excited to be sharing this piece! It began as a sketch for an assignment last fall.

After seeing @sophieblackall’s original illustrations for Farmhouse, I was inspired to revisit this idea! A giant has lost many of her items and is determined to get them back from a family who repurposes these objects for their thrift store.

Made of many pieces of cut paper with gouache, colored pencil, and some collage items from @milkwoodny.

Unicorn ride 🦄 Used the Mei Liang watercolors for the first time and I LOVED them! I’m sort of afraid of horses (and/or unicorns) because of how large and powerful they are. But I’d like to think riding on a wild unicorn would be the best adrenaline rush.

I couldn’t pick a song for this video so I decided to keep it ASMR vibes LOL! But truly I think it captures that feeling of taking in nature and your surroundings. 🪶🌄 @milkwoodny

Thinking about building my own nest recently 🪹 There would probably be lots of yarn in it.

MILKWOOD 2026 🐎
This month I had the absolute pleasure of spending a week at @milkwoodny for an artist residency for children’s book authors & illustrators. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for this incredibly beautiful experience. I made friends and memories I will forever cherish. @sophieblackall and Ed have created a magical place for creatives to get together and learn from one another while celebrating their shared passion for their craft!

I’d also like to share that I specifically attended the LGBTQ+ residency and wow - I completely underestimated how much it would mean to me to be around a group of cross generational queer friends. In this group of people from 22 to 77 years old, I learned so much about love and loss and hope and persistence. And most importantly - I was able to exist as myself with no explanation.

When I first arrived, I was nervous to be the youngest in the room, but quickly became so appreciative to be surrounded by exceptional wisdom and experience. I’ve never felt such immediate warmth and belonging in a group of strangers.

Cheers to the best week of my life! 🐻

Inside the calf barn - the artist studio.

Mina had the amazing idea of creating lists of 100 things that inspire us. Very generative! I recommend everyone do it.

Places to curl up with a good book. My favorite - the kitchen window seat and of course, the library.

I felt very inspired this week by the surrounding natural flora and fauna. Many great wildflowers around.

Bits and pieces of process (progress!)

Another moment for the stunning library 🌟

I can’t get enough of this kitchen.

And the VIEWS! Thank you upstate New York, I underestimated your game…

Our spectacular fall feast! Cooked by Julian and Melanie.

Little horses everywhere…

Always time for play!

Through Windows. So many photos of this piece, always changing, evolving. If you haven’t gotten a chance to see this painting, it’s still up in the @risdmuseum for a month! Along with another reflection piece🪟

Plan, do, check, repeat! 🐻🎨

I can’t believe I haven’t posted these guys yet! A fun project from last summer. I took a business class and was inspired by the simple cycle of “plan, do, check, repeat”. My sister just moved into college and brought with her two of these bears in risograph form! I love the way she framed them.

I started working on this painting last month. It’s been difficult navigating my art journey without the title of being a student. Lots of self doubt and overthinking. Who am I! What am I doing!

What I do know is that life is slowing down. I’ve had this image in my head since June: a yield sign by my house. I’m taking things at my own pace. Creating when it pulls me, letting it draw me in naturally.

So cheers to this next phase of life; learning to slow down, enjoying things as they come. Stop and smell the roses or whatever they say… 🚸🌱

A little of this, a little of that! 🦅🦆🦜🦉🪿

A couple months ago, I made my Bird Board puzzle called a ‘look and learn’ for the Art For Children class taught by @yllekyhprum.

Starting with outlines in adobe illustrator, I laser cut three layers of wood - 2 with the bird silhouettes and 1 with their names engraved. I then glued the layers of wood to create the board and pieces. After painting with acrylic, I sprayed some clear gloss and it was finished! This piece was then exhibited in the 2026 @risdillustration Senior Invitational show.

This was really fun to play with in class with my friends and our guest critics!

Today was my last day of school, completing my BFA in Illustration. I have many photos and many thoughts to share, but for now, it’s my mission to soak up this last week with my exceptional friends in this little city. 💙
