“Being able to use my own tissue was earth-shattering. I didn’t even know it was possible.”

Many women are surprised to learn that breast reconstruction after breast cancer can be performed using their own living tissue, creating a soft, natural breast without implants.

Procedures like the DIEP and SGAP flap breast reconstruction use advanced microsurgical techniques, pioneered at the Breast Center, to rebuild the breast while preserving muscle.

For many patients, it’s more than reconstruction. It’s using a part of themselves to heal and move forward.
