Introducing Luminous - Golden Threads, a new textile study from my Luminous series.

A transparent warp brings lightness to the fabric, while contrasting yarns give its surface depth: soft, airy white yarns, small loops in warm beige, fine dark accents, and delicate threads of gold Lurex.

Up close, each yarn reveals its own texture. From a distance, they come together in a quiet, luminous surface that changes with the light and the way the fabric hangs.

LUMINOUS SERIES - Light in Motion

A new textile study from my Luminous Series, created through a transparent warp and the interplay of different types of yarns.

Fine and thicker yarns are combined with shiny and matte yarns, creating subtle variations in texture, density and the way light moves through the textile.

White yarns form the main structure, interwoven with delicate touches of yellow, orange, pink, green and blue. The colours emerge and disappear within the transparency, creating a sense of continuous movement.

The lightness of the textile allows it to curve, fold and float in space, transforming the fabric into a sculptural form.

A study of transparency, yarn, light and movement - where the textile becomes both structure and expression.

Galaxy Green
‘Scandinavian Night Sky Tapestry Art’
While living in Sweden, one of the most striking impressions for Hala was the clarity of the night sky, filled with millions upon millions of stars across the galaxy. This captivating view inspired her to create a new tapestry design as part of the 1001 Scandinavian Nights collection, titled Galaxy Green.
This piece brings together an Islamic geometric pattern inspired by Hala’s country of birth, Iraq, with the depth and stillness of the Scandinavian night sky. Intricate lines form repeating star-like motifs, enhanced by a beautiful and fluid gradient of colors that moves seamlessly across the geometry, adding depth and visual harmony.

The deep green base gives the tapestry a calm and grounded presence, reminiscent of Nordic forests, while accents of bronze-gold, terracotta, and gold introduce warmth and a refined luminosity. This palette creates a delicate balance between richness and subtlety, reflecting a contemporary interpretation of Islamic art with a Scandinavian touch.
Developed in collaboration with the Textielmuseum, the tapestry was later carefully finished by hand, preserving the unique character of craftsmanship within each piece.

Silent Whispers – Soft Ember | Abstract Nature-Inspired Tapestry

"Soft Ember" is part of the "Silent Whispers" series, a collection of abstract, nature-inspired tapestries by Hala Yousif. Rooted in her time in Stockholm, the series reflects a symbolic journey from darkness to light, shaped by the atmosphere of Scandinavian forests and their quiet contrasts.

This variation reveals a softer, more intimate expression. "Soft Ember" evokes a calm, atmospheric mood, where warmth emerges from shadow. Subtle transitions and organic forms create a sense of depth, balance, and stillness.

The color palette blends dusty pink, deep brown, and refined bronze tones, creating a warm, layered composition with a gentle inner glow. The abstract design suggests shifting forest shadows and hidden movement, adding a sense of mystery and visual richness.
