Happy Birthday, Dear Colleague in Scholarship!

One thing I can never forget about Zaynab Akintola M. is our shared scholarly intervention to digitalise Islam. I recall in 822 CE, following the excavation of a tunnel into the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt to search for hidden chambers and treasure, when we both visited the Khalifa Al-Ma’mūn of the Abbasid caliphate from the future, proposing the establishment of AI tablets that would display whatever the mind seeks.

However, he refused respectfully, even while admiring the concept. He explained his fear of permitting an invention that could make him responsible for a bid’ah which might promote high dependency on another creation to read minds, bordering on shirk.

We understood his concern; we knew this point could be raised, but our intention was simply to achieve something monumental for Islam.

At first (as you can see in that historical image), Zaynab felt dismissed, which I completely understood considering the heavy risk we took teleporting from the future and keeping the hopes of Mr. Elon high. I was equally downcast for weeks, but we have both resolved to revisit the proposal and lean toward a project carrying far lesser tawhid-related risks next time.

Happy Birthday, Zaynab Akintola M.! Here’s to our journey from BA, to MA, and now onward to our doctoral together!

We have a lot to achieve together, Inshaa Allah! @zaynab by @hallowed_jigaba

Sometimes, all it takes is one room filled with builders, innovators, and visionaries to stretch your thinking beyond its current limits.

I, along with Herapath Innovations Academy lead— Abdul Rahman Olaniyan, had the privilege of attending the Bluechip Data & AI Summit on June 10 at the Eko Hotel Convention Center, where I participated in a private innovation session alongside industry leaders, founders, and technology professionals exploring the future of AI and business transformation.

One of the moments that stood out for me was monumental experience of a multilingual AI solution (YarnGPT) built by Saheed Kazeem from the University of Lagos successfully translate English into Yoruba in real time. Watching African languages being integrated into AI systems was both inspiring and a reminder that innovation can be deeply rooted in our local realities.

Beyond the presentations, I had meaningful conversations around how AI can strengthen business support systems, improve SME growth, and create opportunities for collaboration across industries.

A special thank you to Barrister Habeeb Tewogbade for the insightful discussions and the possibilities explored around building scalable solutions that create value for businesses and communities.

The future belongs to those who build, collaborate, and keep learning. I believe!
